When it comes to my daily outfit choices I love to play with texture, make unique color combinations such as yellow and red, pink and orange, turquoise and purple and wear animal print (a lot!) but I tend to stay in my "fashion comfort zone" when it come to mixing patterns. I've always been a one-pattern-at-a-time kind of fashionista. But today, thanks to the inspiration of some of my favorite bloggers, I stepped out of my comfort zone and mixed texture AND pattern! Now I did it in a subtle-this-is-my-first-time kind of way but I did it, and I loved the result! I felt fashion forward, savvy and stylish all day!
How do you think I did in my texture/pattern mixing debut? Do you mix your patterns?
Have a savvy and stylish end to your week!

Transitioning
I really like to transition slowly from one season to the next especially when it comes to my wardrobe. Mixing last season's pieces with this season's makes things more interesting and makes a wardrobe go a little further. Transitioning can be a little difficult here in Georgia because our weather changes so quickly. When I left the house this morning this thick sweater vest was just right but by this afternoon the temps had risen to 80 and I was a little warm! I found this vest Christmas before last at a little shop here in town that has since (sadly) closed. It was in the window all during the holidays. Of course I had my eye on it hoping it wouldn't sell until I had Christmas gift cash on hand. After the New Year it was still there and better yet it was marked down! I happily brought it home and have worn it to death in the past year and a half! It looks handmade, the shop owner said it is, and since there are no tags in it I'll have to take her word for it! The rest of my outfit is my standard "uniform" lately - tunic top, colored skinny pants or jeans and wedges.
The copper and blue stone bracelet among today's stack was made by my amazingly talented artist brother. He's a master metal craftsman and has recently (with a little of my urging) started making jewelry! Yay! He is currently working on an unbelievable statement necklace for me. I can't wait until it's done so I can share it with you all!
Happy Monday! Hope your week is savvy and stylish!

Minimalistic
When it comes to my outfits, lately I have been overdosing on color and pants/jeans so I decided to try something different today ~ "no" color and a skirt (a maxi one too boot!). I was unbelievably comfortable in this entire outfit all day. I seriously need to invest in more maxi skirts. This one is super easy to wear because it's made of a heavy jersey fabric so it hangs beautifully and doesn't cling or bunch up. My only dilemma with the skirt was deciding what to wear on top. I almost went with a cardi or a lose belted tunic but something about this oversize men's t-shirt seemed right (and it kept with my minimalist theme!). The belt pulls the outfit together and the chunky wedge heels are the perfect balance to the long maxi skirt. I feel like the photos don't do the outfit justice but I did want to share it with you (I deleted yesterday's pics instead of sharing them ~ cute outfit, more bad photos!)
Have a savvy and stylish rest of your week!

Mz Green Jeans
Remember the show "Captain Kangaroo"? There was a character on the show named "Mr. Green Jeans" because he always wore green jeans. Well, I may just become known as "Mz Green Jeans" because I am so crazy about these jeans I'm tempted to wear them every day! If you know me you know green is my favorite color so when colored denim was becoming a hot trend green jeans were at the top of my "must have" list! I finally found these at Old Navy. They would get in a shipment of colored denim and before I could get to the store they would sell out! I finally got over there at the right time and was able to snag these along with a melon pair. I also picked up a melon pair for my oldest daughter (we will have to make sure not to wear them on the same day!) and a royal blue pair for my youngest. I've gotten into the whole colored denim thing so much that when I put on a regular old pair of blue jeans something feels off!
This shirt I adore and wish it came in a rainbow of colors. I bought it a size larger than I would normally wear so it has a more "slouchy" look and feel. The shoes I have had for ages and have worn them to death! I love a little leopard with just about everything!
How do you feel about the colored denim trend? Is it something you hope stays around for a while?
Hope your day is savvy and stylish!

Favorite Things ~ Saint Patricks Week
I love it when a week comes along that's different than the norm! My oldest daughter, her fiancé and their dog were home from college for their spring break so I took a couple days off of the day job to spend with them. We were able to get a few wedding errands done and just enjoy some down time. We went to lunch at one of our favorite burger places in town, found their reception site, got mani/pedi's (not the fiancé just the daughter and I!), enjoyed the beautiful spring weather, and had a great time trying to catch a glimpse of Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE who were in town filming a movie.
Also this week my son came home from a mission trip to Jamaica he went on with his senior class. They worked in a few children's homes and a deaf school while they were there. What a wonderful experience it was for him!
We finished off the week celebrating St. Patrick's day, which is one of my favorite holiday's! Just family, friends, food and fun and no stress!
Hope your week and weekend were wonderful!

It is Easy Being Green When You are Irish!
Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone! Being the Irish girl I am, and due to the fact that green is my favorite color, I usually wear green most of the week leading up to Saint Patrick's Day. I wore this outfit yesterday while running around town doing wedding errands with my daughters. I've mentioned before that I am MOTB (Mother of the Bride) and my daughter is home for the week on spring break so we spent a few days looking at reception sites and doing other wedding related things. Our favorite possible reception site so far is the Hotel Indigo. It's a very hip, chic and totally green hotel (not in color but in construction and function). The weather the past few days could not have been better for running about town! I'm so glad I took time out earlier in the week to get a spring pedi so I could wear open-toed shoes! ("No naked toes" is a big rule of mine!!)
Have a savvy and stylish weekend!

Spring Fever!
The temps got into the low 80's today, the trees and flowers are blooming and the sky was the perfect shade of blue. It's official ~ I have Spring Fever! What does this mean? Well, I have a strong desire to play hooky from the day job, lay on a blanket outside under a tree and read a book, go shopping for very colorful spring clothes and pack my sweaters and boots away! I'm so thankful for all the seasons but especially spring and fall. I've decided it's because I love color and both of these seasons are full of it!
Has spring sprung where you are? If it has I hope you are enjoying these first few days like I am. If it hasn't, hang on, it's coming and it's worth the wait!
Thanks for reading! Hope the last half of your week is savvy and stylish!

Feet Ready for Spring!
We have had a really warm winter in Georgia this year. I never pulled out the heavy sweaters, sported a coat only a few times and my fairly large boot collection didn't get much of a workout either. The temps are forecasted to be in the 70's and 80's this week so I decided it was time for a spring pedi so I could bare my toes without embarrassment (and wear those cute wedges I bought a few weeks back)! I picked this fun purple color for my toes since I am really embracing the bold color trend for this season. I've always loved to have fun with my toe polish color picks - why not? - if it doesn't work it's easy to change!
Have a savvy and stylish day!
