In Neutral

I love color ~ that's no secret ~ but sometimes putting on an all neutral outfit is kind of soothing (yes, an outfit can be soothing!). All day felt like I was a living Michael Kors ad ~ except that I'm not 6' ~ and I'm not 25 ~ and not stick thin ~ and it wasn't snowing ~ but the feeling was nice. And this IS a Michael Kors sweater. ;-)

Yellow and Gray for Thanksgiving Day

I had a hard time trying to decide on an outfit for Thanksgiving day. You know when you have something in mind but you just can't find the right thing? Well, that was me the few days leading up to Thanksgiving. I wanted to wear my black leather leggings with a big, oversize, chunky winter white sweater. I searched high and low for days but couldn't find the perfect sweater so I went with plan B ~ my black leather leggings (of course ~ obsessed!) with a chunky gray drape cardigan I've had in my closet for a year or so now and a bright yellow tunic top I recently bought at Fab'rik Boutique. I like the result ~ especially the bright yellow top ~ but I'm still craving that big, oversize, chunky winter white sweater, so if you know where I can find one, let me know!

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Did you eat lots of good food? Find any good Black Friday deals? Start decorating for the holiday's? Spend time with those you love? Whatever you did I hope it was a wonderful, savvy and stylish time!

Thanksgiving

I have much to be thankful for today (and everyday). I'm blessed with a God who loves me, a wonderful husband, the most incredible kids and soon to be son-in-law, an awesome family, the best friends a girl could ask for, my health, food on the table and a roof over my head. I'm also thankful for this blog and for you, my readers and friends!

Oxblood and Gray

What could be easier (or more chic) than an oxblood and gray combo? Especially when it's done "colorblock" style with a bow blouse, pencil skirt and slouchy suede boots. I'm incorporating more and more oxblood pieces into my wardrobe as the fall season progresses and using them in place of where I would have usually worn black. I'm currently searching for a thick, oversize oxblood sweater to wear with my leather leggings. And now to decide what to wear for Thanksgiving dinner (and Christmas card picture taking) at my in-laws tomorrow! ~ any suggestions?

Love

I love color, especially green. I love polka dots and animal print, especially when I mix them together. I really love my new cobalt blue bag, which means ~ I really love this outfit! Don't you love it when that happens?

No post yesterday and a super short one today because I'm trying to finish up at the day job so I can be off for the rest of the week ~ yay! I'm ready for a break. What about you all? Any Thanksgiving week plans?

Leather Obsession

I have a confession ~ I'm obsessed with leather right now. Leather pants, leggings, skirts, dresses...you name it, I want to own it and wear it...often. I'm not sure why. Maybe I was really meant to be a biker or rocker chick? I knew leather would work for nights out but I wasn't sure I could pull off leather for the workplace or for every day. I decided I'd try to style it with more conservative pieces, like long cardigans or tweed jackets and it worked!

I had been searching for leather leggings for a while now and found these on clearance at Target.com. They are from Target's Kirna Zabete designer line. The first time I wore them I fell in love, went home and ordered another pair just incase I wore these out! I'm pretty much living in them at this point. I've worn them dressed up with a silky top and platform heels for a night out and I've worn them with boyfriend cardi's, tunic tops and big cozy sweaters ~ a lot! Told you I'm obsessed! ;-)

Tunic and Jegging Kind of Day

When I'm spending a busy day running from place to place, in and out of the car, doing a lot of walking I reach for the same kind of outfit ~ a loose tunic top or button down, jeggings, skimmers or riding boots and a small cross-body bag. Tossing on a scarf or statement necklace and a stack of arm candy pulls the whole look together. Just because your busy doesn't mean you have to look sloppy (leave the sweats at home, please!) or be uncomfortable (too tight jeans or painful high heels, yikes!). I've gotten some great jeggings at T.J.Maxx, Entourage and New York and Co lately and fab tunic/button downs at Old Navy, Fab'rik, Gap, and Entourage. One great cross-body bag in a neutral color is all you need (who wants to lug a huge bag around all day?!?) and T.J.Maxx always has a lot of affordable ones. You CAN look and feel savvy and stylish even on the busiest of days!

Michael Kors and the Mother of the Bride

Sunday was the first if my daughter's wedding showers which was given by a few of her sweet bridesmaids. It was a really lovely shower and a wonderful time. Of course my daughter's wedding shower was the perfect excuse to buy a new dress ~ after all the MOB needs to look good, right? ;-) I made a trip to my favorite go-to store, T.J.Maxx, and found this beautiful Michael Kors dress on clearance for $39.99! The original MSRP was $195 for a savings of $155.01! Woo hoo! I love the leather sleeves (I'm obsessed with leather right now!) and the exposed zipper detail.

Funny story about this necklace... I was at Fab'rik Boutique shopping with my oldest for my youngest's birthday when I spotted this necklace. I tried it on, really liked it but decided to wait on purchasing it (I was going to suggest to my husband that he buy it for me for my birthday). A few seconds later another woman picked it up, tried it on and carried it around the store showing her friends. It was the only necklace like it in the store, I could think of several things it would go perfectly with (including this dress) and all of a sudden I wanted it really bad! I watched that woman like a hawk and when she put it down, I pounced. Really. And I'm glad I did because I think it's the perfect completer piece to this outfit. A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do!

Birthday Bag

I've been on the hunt for a new bag (I know, you're thinking "aren't you always?" ;-) The other day I was at T.J.Maxx and saw this little beauty. It met all my "new bag of the season" requirements...It's Kate Spade (I've been craving a KS bag!), it's cobalt blue (one of "the colors" of the season), it's large enough to haul all my stuff (and there's lots!), and it was under $200! Finding a Kate Spade bag for under $200 is not something that happens everyday so I knew I had to jump on it (It was the only one!). The timing was perfect though because it's my birthday week and I had birthday money to spend! Whoo hoo! Happy Birthday to me! ;-)

Don't you love it when you find exactly what you've been looking for at the perfect price? T.J.Maxx is good for that!

A Little Coco, A Little Leopard

I ran into T.J.Maxx this past weekend to grab some t-shirts. I love wearing men's basic white v-neck tees under cardis and jackets and I figured I could find a package of them on the cheap at T.J.Maxx. Well I did, but I also found a few other things on my way to and from the men's department!

The bright pink of this jacket caught my eye as I hurried (wink wink) down the isle to buy my package of t-shirts and when I realized it was 1. By Cynthia Rowley, 2. Coco inspired and 3. Only $29.00 it was a no-brainer! This little leopard shell was waiting for me on a rack nearby, was SUPER inexpensive and was literally calling my name so it too joined me at the register! You can't go wrong with a little Coco and a little leopard!
