One year ago today I published my first blog post. Over the past few months I'd had several people tell me I should start a fashion blog (I'd had a "Mz Savvy Style" Facebook page and a wardrobe styling/personal shopping business for a while) and I decided what better time to start something new and exciting than on New Year's Eve! So I did a little research, found blogger.com and decided to give it a try. Here I am a year later with 116 blog posts, 13,681 page views, loyal followers, new blogger friends, memberships in several blogger groups and an Instagram (that I'm slightly obsessed with). I'm also a Lucky contributor and hopefully a little more savvy and stylish! I'm really excited to see what this next year, my second year as a fashion blogger, will bring! My blogger New Year's resolutions? To be more consistent with posts (I'd love three to four a week), to turn my blogging hobby into a blogging business, to get better with technology and to attend a blogger convention or two! This past year has been a fun adventure for me, one that is just beginning! Thank you for reading, following and sharing in this adventure with me!
What about you? Any New Year's resolutions? Anything new and exciting you've been wanting to try? I say ~ Go for it!
Happy New Year, friends! I hope it's savvy and stylish!!

This Christmas
Here it is, Friday night, and I'm just now doing my post from Tuesday! Better late than never I guess! This is what I wore for Christmas. I wanted to wear Christmas colors without dressing like one of Santa's helpers! Ha! The shirt, T and cords all came from Old Navy. They had the cutest stuff this season! This embellished T is a little different than what I normally wear but I thought it was too cute not to give it a try and it was a steal at only $10!
Our Christmas was busy but wonderful! Christmas Eve started off with the Tingle Jingle, the annual Christmas Eve run I do with my running group, family and friends. This year it was raining so our numbers were down a bit and we had to move our post-run breakfast tailgate into a nearby parking garage, but it still was the best way to start Christmas, running thru the beautifully decorated streets of Athens with some if my dearest friends! Christmas Eve afternoon we headed to my brother's in Atlanta to have the "Fischer Family Christmas" with my parents, siblings and their families. This was truly the highlight of my Christmas! I'm the oldest of five, my parents live 1200 miles away, so having EVERYONE under one roof was a blessing and pure joy! That night we came back home and the kids opened their pajamas (doesn't everyone get pajamas on Christmas Eve?!?) before I stuffed stockings and fell into bed. Christmas morning we were up early (but not as early as we used to get up when the kids were little!) to have our little family Christmas (just the six of us). This is the last Christmas before my oldest daughter gets married in January, so it was bitter-sweet! After the gifts were opened, blueberry/cream cheese French toast casserole was eaten and everyone was dressed and ready, we headed to my in-laws for the "Herrin Family Christmas"! It was another wonderful day of family, food and celebration. I did receive awesome gifts but the best thing about my Christmas was spending time with some of the people I love most!
How was your Christmas? Are you "Christmased Out" or still celebrating? We now have shifted gears here to "Wedding Countdown" mode! 28 days to go and so much to do!!
Have a savvy and stylish weekend!! Thank you for reading!

Sequins for the Holiday's
When I think of dressing for the holiday's sequins are the first thing that come to mind. Every outfit I have planned for the next few days has sequins in some shape or form. This skirt is one of those purchases that I am just as happy I made today as I was when I bought it two years ago. I can dress it up or dress it down and it always looks just right. I've worn it with a t-shirt, denim jacket and riding boots for a daytime brunch and with a silky cami and heels for a night out. Today I paired it with a satin tunic, boyfriend cardigan and suede wedges for Christmas church services and my daughter's final wedding dress fitting. I felt festive without being overdone.
What do you reach for when planning a holiday outfit? Will you continue to wear sequins after the celebrations are over?
Merry Christmas Eve! Have a wonderful, savvy and stylish day!

Blogging Break
This week, as well as last week, ended up being a lot more busy than I expected. With my oldest's out-of-town college graduation, Christmas shopping, gift wrapping, work and wedding prep the time to post new blogs has escaped me!
I'm looking forward to sharing some new posts with you all next week! I've got some cute holiday looks in the works!
Happy three days before Christmas!

Graduation Day
Sorry I've been a little behind on blog posts. I try to post three or four times a week but it has been beyond crazy here lately and the blog has been put on the back burner. I'm hoping things will get a little less crazy once Christmas is over but then I'll be in the final weeks of wedding planning for my daughter's January wedding... Thanks for sticking with me!
My oldest, Megan, along with her fiancé, Colton, graduated from college on Friday! I can't begin to express how proud I am of them! It was a really wonderful day. I was hoping to snap a few pics of my graduation day outfit but time didn't allow so here are a few pictures of me with the graduates and my husband. One child's college education down, two to go... (My son is a freshman in college and my youngest is a high school senior currently in the middle of college visits and applications!)
I really love the dress I wore for graduation. It was super comfy for a long, busy day and it's print nothing like anything else I own. I'm sad to say this is the last appearance for these boots. I've had them for years and I noticed the last time I wore them they were beginning to look a little shabby. By the end of the day the backs of the boots were completely pealing off! There was no saving them so I am now in the market for new winter white boots! Sad.
Hope your week before Christmas is happy, productive and stress free!

Sequins and Stripes
Sequins and stripes ~ what a great combo! When I spotted this tank at Old Navy on a quick run thru (I do quick run thrus of my favorite stores to stay on top of what's out there for myself and my clients) I knew I had to have it and when I saw the sale price of $12.99 it was a no-brainer. I instantly knew how I wanted to style it. I bought it two sizes larger than usual so I could layer it over a denim shirt. I had to take it up in the shoulders so it wouldn't hang too low but I really love the tunic feel the larger size created. I adore sequins for day, don't you?

Happy Feet
This was one of those days that I picked out my shoes first and planned my whole outfit around them. Polka dots in black and white with red accents ~ what could make for a happier shoe? I bought these beauties years ago and still love them as much today as I did then. Don't you love it when that happens?
Have a savvy and stylish day!

Mrs. Gold Jeans
I'm a trend-embracer. I admit it. If there is a trend and it strikes my fancy (now that's an old term) then I'm on it like white on rice (another old term - and I think that may be a southern one too). One big trend right now is metallics ~ especially metallic denim. I may or may not have two pair of gold metallic jeans and a bronze (faux) leather pair.
I bet you're wondering why I am posting on a random Thursday night. Well, I was off from the day job today to work on details for my daughter's quickly approaching wedding and I was able to get my "to do when I get home from work" chores done during the day so I'm chillin much earlier this evening! And I usually post on Wednesday and I didn't get to yesterday so I owed ya one!
Have a savvy and stylish Thursday night and a fabulous Friday!

Favorites
This outfit contains several of my favorites ~ leather, leopard, a Michael Kors bag, a bubble necklace and chunky bracelet from J.Crew, and fabulous stilettos! It was a good outfit day! Now if I could just get rid of the forehead lines, my need for a root touch-up, and the sitting-all-day-in-my-sweater wrinkles it would have been a fabulous outfit day! ~ but I will choose to focus on the positive... ;-)
