It's hard to write about one of the most important days in your life and do it justice. So many details and so many emotions. My whole focus for the better part of the past fourteen months has been the wedding and the date January 25th, 2013. Sometimes it seemed like it would never get here and other times it seemed to be coming too fast. But it did come this past Friday. It came and it went in what seems like a blur. All the planning, dreaming, stressing, budgeting...
My oldest daughter, Megan, married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Colton, on what was a very cold day in Georgia. The temperature outside was freezing but the warmth of the love they share and the love of everyone who surrounded them on Friday turned a dreary day into one of the most beautiful days I've ever experienced. After all the planning did the wedding come off without a hitch? Nope, but the day was perfect to us.
My dress is Vera Wang. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. I didn't want the typical "Mother of the Bride" dress, I wanted something that was "me", and I'm not the typical mother if the bride! ha! The big horsehair bow didn't come with the dress, I added that. I thought the bow made the dress uniquely mine. The clutch is one I've had for years that I purchased at a vintage shop. I received these earrings back in June from a Monday Mingle giveaway. I'd been saving them for this special occasion. They are Erickson Beamon and totally gorgeous! The picture doesn't do them justice.
Megan's dress as well as the bridesmaid's dresses are also Vera Wang. Megan's dress was absolutely perfect for her! She looked like a fairy tale princess marrying her Prince Charming. The bridesmaids dresses are classy, elegant and sophisticated and looked great on all eight girls! I found the flower girl's dress on Etsy from the Miss Sweet Pea Boutique. Megan carried hydrangeas as did the bridesmaids and the top of the flower girl's dress is made out if silk hydrangea petals. The bottom is layers and layers of tulle. It was exactly what we envisioned our flower girl should wear.
Megan's bouquet as well as the bridesmaid's bouquets were designed and made by my amazing sister-in-law. She spent weeks hunting down vintage brooches and collecting them from family members to make the bouquet extra special and meaningful!
There were so many details ~ the cross my unbelievably talented artist brother made to be the focal point in the front of the church, the fun, colorful candy favor table my best friend did for us, the cupcake tower instead of a traditional wedding cake, the coke toast (the brides favorite drink), my grandfather's Bible the ring bearer carried instead of a pillow, the rose petal lined isle, the bride walking down that isle to "Marry Me" instead of "Here Comes The Bride", the picture guest book, the "Wish Tree Table", the Unity Sand Ceremony... Everything fell into place to create the perfect, most memorable of days.
Thank you for letting me share our special day with you!

Wedding Wednesday
I didn't think I'd have time to post another blog after the one yesterday but with all the wedding craziness I'm lying here wide awake, my mind racing with 1,000 things that I need to do tomorrow and since I was able to snap a few pics today here's a quick post!
I'm wearing my official Mother of the Bride t-shirt. We had one made for each girl in the wedding party...Bridesmaid, Maid of Honor, Bride, Flower Girl and Mother of the Bride. Megan (the bride, my oldest daughter) gave a shirt to each girl when she asked them to be in the wedding. The Tiffany blue and silver writing are a nod to our wedding colors. See how I keep saying "we" and "our" when I refer to the wedding? I know I'm not the one getting married but I feel like it's my wedding since I'm the chic in charge! Ha!
These jeans have become my uniform of late. They are the Joes Jeans I got at T.J.Maxx for $10 and I've gotten more than my money's worth already! They are the most comfortable jeans. I think the "engineer" pinstripe makes them a little more fun than basic blue jeans. I'm completely in love with these shoes! Pony hair leopard print wedges ~ need I say more? Shoe perfection! I wear them as a neutral as I do with all my leopard print.
So tomorrow is rehearsal and rehearsal dinner day. It's also family's coming to town, run more errands, decorate the church and pray my MOB dress that's being altered fits, day! I'll be posting pics of tomorrow and Friday (wedding day!) as I can on Instagram! Follow me @mzsavvystyle Our wedding hashtag is #herrincapewedding2013 ~ where you can see everyone's posted pictures!
Hope the rest of your week is savvy and stylish!

Wedding Week!!
After months and months of planning it's here ~ wedding week! My oldest daughter, Megan, gets married on Friday! Needless to say things are a little crazy and a little busy around here! There are so many details to take care of. The out-of-town family will start arriving on Wednesday, decorating the church and rehearsal/dinner on Thursday and Friday is wedding day!
I'm not sure how much time I'll have this week for blogging. Last week got away from me with only one post. I feel like every spare minute is taken up with wedding duties and family obligations. But before I know it the wedding will be over and life will go back to normal - or the new normal - and I'll miss all this craziness!
I will be posting pictures of wedding week on Instagram (@mzsavvystyle) and we made a wedding hashtag for Instagram and Twitter ~ #herrincapewedding2013 ~ so you can follow along!
Today's post pics were taken on one of my many trips to the reception venue, the Hotel Indigo Athens. This was in the art gallery on the main floor of the hotel. It's a beautiful hotel and we are so excited to be having our reception there! My outfit is playing with the pattern mixing trend and my hair, well it's just a hot mess!
Please follow all the week's fun on Instagram and Twitter!

Green Pumps and Kushyfoot
When I was headed out the door wearing these amazing green pumps I wasn't planning on putting in a twelve hour day. There are twelve hour shoes and these pumps are not them! So when I realized my planned on six hour day was going to get a whole lot longer I was glad I had tossed my new Kushyfoot flats to go in my bag! They fold up into a cute little reusable pouch that makes taking them with you easy and effortless. They have a padded sole so they are a treat for tired feet! (I seriously didn't mean to rhyme ~ it just happened! :-) And it just so happens that my pair of Kushyfeet are leopard ~ which everyone knows is my favorite color ~ so I didn't feel like I was trading in style for comfort!
As for the rest of my outfit...I was really craving color. So I wore it...from head to toe! And of course a touch (or two) of leopard is always spot on!
Have a savvy and stylish Monday!! I'm linking up with the ladies of Monday Mingle and with Molly of Still Being Molly for YOLO Monday's!

A Neon Stripe and a Raspberry Rebecca
If you know me you know how much I love a bargain. I've always been on a budget and I will probably always be on a budget. I've also always loved fashion, trends and designers (I bought my first designer bag while in high school with babysitting money I'd saved) and I will forever, so I've had to learn how to find the best deals and bargains to stay savvy, stylish and fashionable on a budget. I see shopping as a hunt for the best items for the best price. I don't pay full price for anything, I can't and I won't, especially when I know there are great stores and online places to get fabulous finds at a fraction of the price! My first favorite go-to place for designer deals is T.J.Maxx ~ seriously it's my little heaven on earth! The first place I go when I'm looking for something specific is T.J.Maxx and the first place I go when I have a little "fun money" (birthday and Christmas) is T.J.Maxx. It's also the first place I go when shopping for a client. They deserve a deal too! That's one of the reasons they hire me!
These jeans are probably one of the best deals I've scored at T.J.Maxx to date. They are Hudson LouLou Tuxedo Skinny's in oxblood with a neon pink tuxedo stripe. I love Hudson jeans, they fit so well, feel so good and honestly, they make your booty look great too! Who doesn't want that, right?!? The oxblood color is very me, I'm really into colored denim, but the neon stripe is a little out of my norm. They were only $15 (yes, $15 on clearance with the original MSRP of $140!) and in my size so I decided to give them a try. I'm the kind of girl that when I get something new I want to wear it, carry it or try it right away and that was the case with these jeans! I styled them for work (at the day job) which is more conservative so I opted for the long, black, belted sweater over the jeans. I think these jeans will also look great with blue denim, leopard or gray.
Now for the bag ~ my new raspberry Rebecca Minkoff! I'm a bag junkie, I can't get enough. It would be a problem if I paid full price but I don't. And I try to do a bag a season, not a bag a month or a week. I usually stick with Michael Kors and Kate Spade because I can find them at great prices at T.J.Maxx or their outlet stores but then I became obsessed with Rebecca Minkoff's Mac Daddy and I had to have one! I knew that's what I'd be spending my Christmas money on this year. I found a Mac Daddy on Rebecca's site on sale but it wasn't the color I wanted, and if you're going to pay that much for a bag it needs to be the right color. I found one on Amazon, but the price would jump $100 from day to day so I decided to try eBay and this beauty is what I ended up with! The perfect color (raspberry), the perfect size (Mac Daddy), new with tags and the price was $50 less than any other place I'd found which is $150 less than retail! Woo hoo! I think she makes a great addition to my bag collection.
Where are your favorite places to find a deal?
Have a savvy and stylish day!

My Kind of Outfit
Leopard + fur + leather + metallics + platforms + monograms + arm candy + a designer bag = my kind of outfit. The pieces of this outfit were bought over a period of months and not necessarily to make an outfit but just because I liked each item and knew each was something I would wear. Putting together this outfit was like putting together a puzzle, I had to try different pieces until I found the ones that fit together to create a complete look. I ended up with my kind of outfit!

Colorful Layers
Layering is the best way to go for winter dressing when you live in the south. The temps can be below freezing in the morning and climb to the high 50's in the afternoons. Being able to layer up in the morning and shed one or two of them if and when it warms up makes the day a lot more comfortable! I like to layer different colors and textures to make my outfit more interesting. Cinching the waist of the sweater with a thin belt gives the layers definition and keeps the outfit from looking too bulky. And the pop of leopard is always spot on! (Pun intended!)
Today is the launch of the Southern Blog Society! I am so excited to be a charter member along with such a great group of bloggers from around the south! I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with them.
