Chevron Stripes and Yellow Wedges

This gloomy, rainy Monday calls for colorful, happy clothes. And what could be more colorful and happy than a chevron top and yellow patent wedges?

Hope your Monday is Savvy and Stylish!

What Happens When You Raid Your Daughter's Closet...

My girls ~ especially the one who still lives here ~ love to raid my closet, so I decided to turn the tables and raid hers instead. This is what happened...

The t-shirt, bag, wedges and jewelry are mine but the skirt and vest are hers. I'm totally loving the different textures. Even though the outfit is only three basic colors the textures make it interesting. And yes, I returned the skirt and vest to her at the end of the day!

Still Transitioning

The weather here in Georgia has been all over the place. It's been as hot as the high 80's and as cold as the mid thirties over the past few weeks. It's hard to know how to dress from day to day. I've not fully committed to my spring/summer wardrobe (it's still in boxes and I'm pulling out an item at a time) so I'm creating spring-like outfits out of my fall/winter pieces. And pattern mixing ~ lots of pattern mixing!

How are you dressing for these weeks of transition?

Street Style Inspiration

There are so many places to find fashion inspiration. Books, magazines, blogs, TV, Instagram, Pinterest, store windows and on the street are just some of my favorite places to get ideas. For example, the other day as I was walking into the grocery store a woman caught my eye ~ actually her outfit did ~ green skinny jeans, a navy and white patterned button down and wedge shoes. Fabulous colors (one of my favorite combos), effortless, slightly preppy, savvy and stylish ~ and I happened to have similar items in my closet. So here's my version ~ green skinny jeans, navy eyelet button down layered over a navy cami, navy wedge espadrilles, my favorite necklace at the moment, an arm party and a classic bag.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration? I hope I help inspire you to try something new!

I Just Can't Get Enough Pattern Mixing and Polkadots!

After I snapped these pictures this morning for today's post I realized my last post featured pattern mixing AND I was wearing these same polkadots jeans! I guess I can't get enough of either! The shirt, jeans and sequin tank all came from Old Navy but at different times over a span of several months. I didn't buy them to go together but I think they ended up making a cute outfit. That really is the fun of pattern mixing ~ it makes your wardrobe go further! I bought the tank three sizes too big for the purpose of wearing it over other shirts. A little hemming and it worked like I planned. My wedges are the perfect spring go-with-everything shoe!

Mixing Old With New

I'm back from a two week un-planned blogging break. Sometimes life gets in the way of our plans! Hopefully I'll be back on my regular schedule now!

I think my favorite trend of the past year is pattern mixing. I really played it safe at first sticking with black and white, stripes and polka dots but the more comfortable I got with the trend the more fun I started to have. Now when I look at a piece of patterned clothing I think, "what other pattern could I mix with this?" I just bought the cutest pair of brown and blue floral shorts that I'm dying to find another pattern to mix with! I decided I needed a pair of polka dot jeans when Blair from Atlantic Pacific wore a yellow pair about a year ago and totally rocked them (she rocks everything though!). I found these recently on clearance at Old Navy ~ polka dots jeans on clearance ~ you can't get much better than that! I've had this Loft jacket FOR-EV-ER! I think putting it with the polka dot jeans gives it new life. I've also had these Target espadrille wedges FOR-EV-ER! I love them so much I bought them in all three different colors they had ~ red, white and blue! Do you "buy in bulk" when you find something you love? What about pattern mixing? Do you play it safe or step out of your comfort zone?

Have a savvy and stylish start to your week!
