An Outfit For a Busy Day

I hope all of you have had a good week! It's been an exhausting and emotionally draining one for me. I've had some highs (getting to see my new nephew) and lows (the death of a friends brother in a tragic accident). When I have days or weeks like this the last thing I want to do is worry about my wardrobe, but on the other hand, I don't want to run around looking like "who'd a thunk it" (a favorite, funny saying of a friend!) either. So I reach for easy pieces that are comfortable and functional, things I can spend the whole day in and never think twice about. My go to's are usually skinny pants or jeans with a t-shirt and cardigan. If I know it's going to be a long day on my feet then ballet flats or riding boots are my footwear of choice. Tossing on a scarf makes the whole outfit look pulled together and there are some easy ways to "tie" your scarf so you don't have to fuss with it at all once it's on.

I loved the color combo in this outfit, the way the yellow cardigan pops against the olive pants and the red scarf and shoes add interest. I discovered the yellow-red combo a few years ago (thank you, Reese Witherspoon!) and it is one of my favorites. Playing with different, unexpected color combinations is a great way to add life and excitement into your wardrobe! A color wheel is one way to see what colors pop, go, blend and catch your eye! I love to take colors on the opposite side of the wheel and put them together - one as a base and the other as an accent. Try it and see what great color combos you can come up with!

Have a savvy and stylish week!

That ring is fab! As a busy mom I know the importance of color and great accessories. Thanks so much for showing off your style on Momtrends Monday Mingle.
