Hello Again

Do you have items in your closet that you reach for over and over again? Things that fit just right, go with everything, make you feel good when you wear them or are just plain easy to wear?  That's how I feel about this shirt...and if you read my blog or follow me on Instagram you know that I wear this shirt a lot. A brightly colored floral shirt isn't necessarily the most versatile piece as something white or black would be but I do find myself reaching for it at least once a week (probably more).  With all the colors in the pattern I have a multitude of things I can pair it with, even other patterns, which is a lot of fun.

Mellow Yellow

I've had this dress for ages but I seldom wear it and I'm not sure why.  I love the soft lemon yellow color and the cute cutout in the back, the three quarter sleeves and the simple shift style.  It would be cute paired with a denim jacket for cooler temps or with a skinny leopard belt to change it up a bit.  I need to make sure to put this dress in regular rotation instead of leaving it hang in the back of my closet for months on end!

I have to mention this amazing, perfect, I-can't-believe-it's-mine necklace I'm wearing!  I won it in a recent blog link up for Monday Mingle with Momtrends!  I was beyond excited when I got the email letting me know I'd won this beautiful Loft necklace and even more excited when it arrived in the mail earlier this week!  You are going to be seeing a lot of it!

Pastel Pants and Polka Dots

I am so happy that colored pants and jeans made a huge trend comeback a few years ago and hasn't gone away.  The bold bottom trend has actually gotten bigger and branched out into patterned pants and jeans. It's nice to wear color on the bottom as well as the top, don't you think?  It sure does make getting dressed a lot more fun.  Speaking of fun ~ pattern mixing is still my trend obsession and makes it fun to search out new outfit combos.  In this outfit I put together a few different trends ~ pastel colored pants, polka dot top,  zebra skimmers, a statement necklace and a must with these cool temps, a cardi ~ a mix of old and new, color and patterns.

In Neutral

We've had the weirdest weather here in Georgia this spring! These past few weeks have been cold and rainy so lots of layering has been taking place! I'm slowly pulling out spring/summer items and layering them with cooler weather stuff to bridge this long winter to summer transition we've been experiencing. In today's post I'm wearing an all neutral, layered look. The jeans, sweater and skimmers are from my winter wardrobe and the eyelet (hot trend this season) top is new for spring. If you've read my blog for long or know me at all you know how much I love color. I love color around me and I love color on me! So when an outfit is all neutral like this one pattern and texture are a must for me. Snakeskin, leopard, polka dots and eyelet ~ a mix of pattern and texture in the same neutral pallet make for an interesting outfit even if its void of color.

Prepping Up Neon

Neon is one trend I wasn't anxious to jump on. Maybe it's because I got my fill of neon in the 80's or maybe it's the is-it-appropriate-for-someone-over-40 question but up until the other day I'd only done neon in small bits. Then I was at Target scanning the clearance racks (Target always has great stuff on their clearance racks) when these pants caught my eye (how could they not - right?). I decided to give them a try, for under $12.00 how could I not?

To make the neon age appropriate (and less bright) I paired it with a navy structured jacket and navy wedge espadrilles. I kept the preppy vibe going with monogrammed jewelry and a popped collar. How do you wear the neon trend?

This gloomy, rainy Monday calls for colorful, happy clothes. And what could be more colorful and happy than a chevron top and yellow patent wedges?
