Joie De La Vie

Joie De La Vie means "The Joy of Life" in French.  I didn't know that when I bought this sweater, I bought it because I love graphic anything, especially when it's in black and white.  So before I wore it I asked my sweet friend, Stephanie, who is French (and owns an amazing French restaurant, La Petite Maison here in Georgia) what my sweater said...just in case! I was happy when Stephanie told me that it means "The Joy of Life" because not only do I love the saying and will wear it proudly, but it's also my good friend Cindy's favorite saying so every time I wear it I will think of her!  Speaking of my friend Cindy, she's the mommy behind the blog Surviving Mommy, a must read for every woman - mommy or not!  Check out her latest post on her surprise run-in with Ben Affleck (lucky girl!!)

What I'm Wearing ~
Puffer Jacket: Piperlime (it's currently on a crazy good sale! Like under $50!)
Graphic Sweater: Forever 21 (also on a crazy good sale! Under $20!!)
Faux Leather Pants: Forever 21 (yep, on sale too!) If you have not tried out the leather pants trend these would be a great pair to start with!  They fit like regular trousers but are in fabulous, super soft, just-like-real-leather faux leather.
Pointy Toe Pumps: Nine West (These pumps are the perfect heel height - not too high but not too low.)
Bag: Vintage Coach Willis Bag via Agora Vintage Shop (Current version here)

Inexpensive Style with Forever 21

OK ~ I'm not 21.  I'm actually the mother of a 21 year old (and a 20 year old and a 24 year old) but I still shop at Forever 21, especially Forever21.com.  It's my go-to for fun, trendy pieces like leather leggings and joggers, all things faux fur, jumpsuits and casual sweaters.  Right now Forever 21 is having a great sale that I stumbled on today while doing a little lunchtime online browsing and I wanted to share it with you all.  Ready?  For every sale item you buy you get one free!  That means on top of already great sale prices you get two items for the price of one!  I created a few outfits using some of the pieces from the sale to give you some ideas ~ a day outfit and a night outfit...

Leather Joggers are one of my favorite trends this season!  They are so easy to dress up or down.  My favorite way to wear them is paired with a slightly slouchy crew neck sweater, fuzzy faux fur vestpointy toe flats (the pointy toe helps elongate the leg) and a bold layered statement necklace.  And you can never go wrong with a quilted crossbody bag.  (The joggers, sweater and vest are part of the buy one get one sale.)

Another trend I am all about is a great jumpsuit.  I'd been know to replace my lbd with a lbj a lot in the past year.  I even wore one to Star 94's "Little Black Dress Party".   Paired with a great pair of heeled peep-toe booties, a sassy leopard clutcha fun fringed bib necklace (it compliments the lower neckline) and a fabulous faux fur jacket it's makes the perfect date-night/night-out outfit.  (The jumpsuit and jacket are both on the buy one get one sale.)

Forever 21 pieces are not forever-in-your-wardrobe pieces but they are a really fun way to embrace current trends and try something you wouldn't normally try!

Favorite Beauty Finds of 2014

I'm not a makeup artist or beauty blogger ~ fashion is my thing ~ but I do love great makeup and beauty products!  I've discovered several new products in the past year that have become favorites and staples in my daily beauty routine and I want to share them with you because they are all too fabulous to keep to myself!!

Urban Decay Naked On The Run
I just got this amazing makeup kit for Christmas (thanks Santa) and I'm already obsessed!  Best makeup kit I've ever used.  I've been a huge fan of Urban Decay and the Naked line for a while now but this everything-in-one-place-perfect-for-on-the-go-or-at-home pallet is perfection!  It's got 6 perfect-for-anyone neutral eyeshadows (with a double sized base/highlighter shadow), a bronzer, blush, full-sized lipgloss, eyeliner and the best mascara I've ever used all in one fabulous kit!  I've already ordered another one so I have a backup once this one runs out (which will be a while but a girl's got to be prepared!)

Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil and Julep Night Shift Sleeping Mask
These two skin care products have changed my skin for the better!  If you follow me on Instagram or read my blog on the regular (both things you should do, btw...) then you know how much I love all things Julep!!  Seriously, every single thing I have ever gotten from them I have loved, from the nail polishes to the lipglosses, pedi products to the skincare, it's all amazing.  I had never used a face cleansing oil or a sleeping mask before these two showed up in my mailbox but I am so glad I gave them a try!  My skin is softer, firmer (needed when you're trying to avoid botox and fillers!!), clearer, more even and just healthier overall!!  Try them out ~ you will be glad you did!

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
My cousin introduced me to this little gem back in October and I have been using it daily ever since.  My makeup really does go on smoother, looks more even and stays on longer.  I really didn't see the reason to use a primer before but I sure do now! (Thanks, Suz!)

Juelp Freedom Polymer Top Coat
I could have filled up this entire post with Juelp products I love them all so much but this top coat is really something to brag about!  Follow the directions and your mani will last a full seven days (or more).  Really, try it, you'll love it too!  (And right now they are on sale two for $20!)

Revlon Colorburst
I can't get enough of these Revlon Colorburst lip-stains and balms!  Fun colors, wear-all-day staying power and budget friendly so you can have lots of different hues for different looks!  Sweetheart Valentine is my favorite go-to color!

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo
I only wash my hair once or twice a week.  It's so much healthier since I stopped washing and drying every day or every other day!  But what do you do in between washings so you don't look like a greasy head?  Use a fabulous dry shampoo like this one!  I've tried a lot of dry shampoos and there are a lot of good ones out there but this one is by far my favorite!  It really gives your hair an extra day (or two) before it needs washing and it smells AMAZING!!

So there they are ~ my favorite beauty and makeup finds of 2014!  Have you tried any of these products or found some favorites you'd like to share?

2014 In Review

Happy New Year Again!!

It's January 7th and I'm just getting the chance to do my first post of 2015!  Y'all, one of these days life will get a little less crazy for me, right?  I'm really hoping that at the end of this school year I'll be able to give up the day job and focus on the blog, Stella & Dot and styling but until then hang with me!  I promise to post as much as I can...

Some great changes came for the blog this past year and the best of them all was working with my fabulous photographer, Diana!!  No more iPhone pictures for this girls' blog! ha!  Seriously, I never realized how awesome having a professional photographer with a real camera taking my pictures could be!  I'm so thankful to my blogger buds, Peaches In A PodFashionably Lo and My Style Vita  encouraging me (pushing me really) to get a photographer!  Another big change this year was my hair!!  Sometimes I miss my long locks but most of the time I'm happy with my decision and went even shorter in November.  To recap 2014 I went though the blog and picked my favorite outfit from each month of the year, January through December, with an extra thrown in!

 March (these pics were actually taken in February but I didn't post them until March)

May (debuting my new, shorter hair!)

The picture that convinced me to get a real photographer!  My blogger friends, Whitney and Blaire of  Peaches In A Pod, took this picture (and a whole series of others) with a real camera to show me how much better my blog pictures would be with a camera and photographer instead of an iPhone and the Hubs!!  In just a few weeks I started working with Diana!  Thanks, girls!!

Which is your favorite?  I'm looking forward to more fabulous fashion in 2015!

Thank you SO MUCH for reading!!  If you have anything you would like to see here on the blog or  have any style/fashion questions, please leave a comment or shoot me an email!

PS ~ make sure you are following me on Instagram ~ I spend a lot of time over there! :)

New Year's Style

I have been wearing A LOT of sequins this holiday season!  It started back at Thanksgiving, continued through Christmas and is still going strong come New Years!  Our New Year's Eve is usually pretty laid back.  The Hubs and I try to get away for a few days to rest and recharge before the busyness of the new year begins, which is exactly what we will be doing again this year.  Sequin leggings and a cozy, over-sized sweater are great for dinner out or meeting up with friends and will still be comfortable for lounging at the hotel watching all of the bowl games and catching up on my favorite magazines!

Blogger Rule: When you find a fabulous red wall you must use it as a blog picture backdrop!

Wha I'm Wearing ~
Over-sized Ivory Hooded Sweater: Michael Kors via T.J. Maxx {Similar}
Champagne Sequined Leggings: Cheeky Peach Athens {Identical}
Leopard Booties: Nine West {these sold out during Cyber Monday but here's an almost identical pair}
Vintage Louis Vuitton Bag: Agora Vintage Athens {Similar}
All Jewelry: Stella & Dot

The necklace I'm wearing is sold out but this one is another great option and one of my Stella & Dot favorites!
Cocktail RingPave BraceletInspiration BangleSparkle Bracelet

Loving the gold zipper detail on this fab sweater!

This is my "I'm thinking about the new year" look ~ ha!

I'm going to take a few days off from the blog to spend time with The Hubs and relax.  I'll be on Instagram (I can't take a break from everything!) and will be back on the blog Monday with a new post featuring J.Jill!

Happy New Year!!!
