Happy First Day of 2013 ~ Enjoying the Stuff

It's 2013!?!? When did that happen? 2012 flew by, it really did! Something I'm learning as I get older is to not wish time away. Even when it's stressful, I'm trying to enjoy the moments and not just check them off. I am a big list maker and checking things off my list gives me great happiness (and a feeling of accomplishment) but I found that I was doing that with everything, not just tasks or to do's but with events. Baccalaureate - check, graduation - check, daughter's 18th birthday - check, kid's ball games - check, Senior night(s) - check, Christmas - check... My goal (or resolution, I guess) this year is to really enjoy the events and the people involved in the events and not just hurry through them or wish them over just to check them off and reduce the stress involved in planning and carrying out these important times. 2012 was and 2013 will be big years for our family. We've already celebrated three graduations (my son from high school and my oldest daughter and her fiancé from college) and will have one more this year (my youngest from high school). My oldest daughter's wedding is the 25th of this month, my youngest is in the midst of college applications and visits and will make her decision soon of where she will attend school in the fall. My husband and I celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in February. Milestones. Big stuff. Stuff I want to savor. Stuff I want to enjoy. Stuff that only happens once. Stuff I don't want to wish away. Stuff I don't want to hurry through. Stuff that can be stressful for a mom who's usually the one in charge but stuff that's a blessing. Family stuff. Important stuff. Stuff that my husband and I (with God's help) spent the last twenty-five years building, planning, working towards. Stuff I'm thankful for.

So that's a little piece of my heart. It has nothing to do with fashion (even though I try to be savvy and stylish through all the stuff), but when I created this blog I said it would be a fashion and lifestyle blog. I want to share with you not only (hopefully) great outfits and fashion tips but life and stuff!

Now for the fashion part...

This is the last of my holiday/Christmas outfits. I wore it the last day of work before our Christmas break began. The colors could pass for a Fourth of July outfit except for the green shoes and necklace and the fact that it's extremely hot here in July and I'd never wear a cardigan or cords then! I think sequins are a must for holiday dressing. I'm the kind of girl who loves sequins for day, night and everywhere in between so when the holiday's roll around sequins will be worn by this girl for every occasion! This tank, cords and cardi all came from Old Navy, not all at once and not intended to be worn together but it ended up working out that way! Old Navy is great for basics, trends and affordable stuff! (Stuff seems to be my word of the day! Ha!)

Happy 2013, Friends! I hope it's savvy and stylish...and full of good stuff!
