It's hard to write about one of the most important days in your life and do it justice. So many details and so many emotions. My whole focus for the better part of the past fourteen months has been the wedding and the date January 25th, 2013. Sometimes it seemed like it would never get here and other times it seemed to be coming too fast. But it did come this past Friday. It came and it went in what seems like a blur. All the planning, dreaming, stressing, budgeting...
My oldest daughter, Megan, married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Colton, on what was a very cold day in Georgia. The temperature outside was freezing but the warmth of the love they share and the love of everyone who surrounded them on Friday turned a dreary day into one of the most beautiful days I've ever experienced. After all the planning did the wedding come off without a hitch? Nope, but the day was perfect to us.
My dress is Vera Wang. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. I didn't want the typical "Mother of the Bride" dress, I wanted something that was "me", and I'm not the typical mother if the bride! ha! The big horsehair bow didn't come with the dress, I added that. I thought the bow made the dress uniquely mine. The clutch is one I've had for years that I purchased at a vintage shop. I received these earrings back in June from a Monday Mingle giveaway. I'd been saving them for this special occasion. They are Erickson Beamon and totally gorgeous! The picture doesn't do them justice.
Megan's dress as well as the bridesmaid's dresses are also Vera Wang. Megan's dress was absolutely perfect for her! She looked like a fairy tale princess marrying her Prince Charming. The bridesmaids dresses are classy, elegant and sophisticated and looked great on all eight girls! I found the flower girl's dress on Etsy from the Miss Sweet Pea Boutique. Megan carried hydrangeas as did the bridesmaids and the top of the flower girl's dress is made out if silk hydrangea petals. The bottom is layers and layers of tulle. It was exactly what we envisioned our flower girl should wear.
Megan's bouquet as well as the bridesmaid's bouquets were designed and made by my amazing sister-in-law. She spent weeks hunting down vintage brooches and collecting them from family members to make the bouquet extra special and meaningful!
There were so many details ~ the cross my unbelievably talented artist brother made to be the focal point in the front of the church, the fun, colorful candy favor table my best friend did for us, the cupcake tower instead of a traditional wedding cake, the coke toast (the brides favorite drink), my grandfather's Bible the ring bearer carried instead of a pillow, the rose petal lined isle, the bride walking down that isle to "Marry Me" instead of "Here Comes The Bride", the picture guest book, the "Wish Tree Table", the Unity Sand Ceremony... Everything fell into place to create the perfect, most memorable of days.
Thank you for letting me share our special day with you!
