Summer Professional

Do you find that during the summer it's hard to dress up?  I have the tendency to want to dress for every occasion in the summer like I'm at the beach or on vacation even though I'm not.  It's hard to go into my closet and pick out an outfit that's office/work appropriate because I just want to be in cutoffs and a tank top 24/7!  Fortunately for me my summer office is at home and my dress code is pretty relaxed (think sweat-shorts and an over sized T) but when I do have to step out of the home office for client meetings I still want to have a comfortable, relaxed, summer look that's also professional and polished at the same time.  The relaxed pant trend is a great alternative for professional summer dressing.  Lighter weight pants in a looser fit are more comfortable than traditional trousers but can be just as polished and professional when paired with the right top and accessories.

A pair of relaxed pants in a soft fabric gets polished and professional with a front tucked striped top, floral scarf and closed toe pumps.  If I was going to an office I would trade the straw bag for a leather tote and the pink platform pumps for a pair with a lower heel and no platform.

What I'm Wearing ~
Relaxed Trousers: Forever 21 (sold out) ~ Similar (but with the tuxedo stripe) from Gap.
Striped Top (A wardrobe staple in my book!): Old Navy
Scarf: Gap (last summer) ~ Other pretty options here, here, here and here!
Pink Pumps: Charlotte Russe (old) ~ Identical and these from Isaac Mizrahi are a more office appropriate option.
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (no longer available) ~ This one by Michael Kors is summer-professional.
"Hello Sunshine" Phone Case: Kate Spade
Affirmation Bracelets: BCBGeneration
Sunnies: Emilio Pucci

Do you agree that it's hard to "dress" during the summer months?

free fab'rik, Blogger Buddies and LBJ's

Last night was the free fab'rik Charity Event at the AmericasMart Atlanta.  I was really excited for a night out, fabulous fashion for a great cause and hanging out with some of my blogger buddies!  Of course when you are going to a fashion event, especially one in Atlanta, you have to bring your fashion A-game!  Jumpsuits are quickly becoming my event go-to's.  From wedding showers, graduation parties, hosting duties and fashion events, my jumpsuits are on heavy rotation!  The first jumpsuit I bought was this black menswear-inspired, harem jumpsuit.  I love the cut, it's not too tight but it's not too loose, which is key in any garment and the cropped style is something I gravitate too so I can show off my shoes!  If you are thinking about adding a jumpsuit to your wardrobe I'd go with a black one first.  It is easily on the same level as a little black dress (LBD) in it's classic chicness, wearability and versatility!  Yay for LBJ's!

What I'm Wearing ~
Jumpsuit: Forever 21 (Other great LBJ options here, here, here and here)
Snake Skin Bag: Cynthia Rowley via TJMaxx (similar here and here)
Necklace: K-la Boutique (love this one by Kendra Scott)
Gold Metallic Shoes: Michael Antonio - thrifted (a few other fun, affordable options here, here and here)
Bracelets: J.Crew (old, new version here)
Nails: Julep Jennine and Love
Lips: Revlon ColorBurst in Sweetheart Valentine
Sunnies: Emilio Pucci c/o Alexis Suitcase

Me and some of my fabulous blogger buddies, Bless Her Heart Y'all and Peaches In A Pod, at last night's event.

Silver

I bought this silver top months ago (like when it was freezing out) on major clearance, hung it in my closet and forgot all about it until yesterday when I was searching in my closet for something to wear that wasn't wintry.  I haven't switched my wardrobe over yet from fall/winter to spring/summer.  It's a job that will take a few days, especially with the weight loss because I'll have to try every single thing on, so I've been trying to make due with the few transition pieces I have and the new stuff I've added.  Hopefully in the next week or so I'll hunker down and make the switch.  It's actually easier editing someone else's closet than my own.  It's kind of like that old story of the cobbler that didn't have any shoes...I'm the closet editor that has a closet that needs editing!

What I'm Wearing ~
Top: Versona (Bought on clearance back in December. Love this one by Tory Burch (it's on sale!) and this one by Elizabeth and James.)
White Jeans: Rockstar by Old Navy (identical pair by Gap and cropped version)
Lace-up Cage Sandals: Nine West
Necklace: No Name (This one by Ann Taylor is so pretty!)
Sunnies: Emilio Pucci c/o Alexis Suitcase
Clutch: No Name (I'd LOVE to add this one by Tory Burch to my collection!)

Have you transitioned your wardrobe over for the season?  If you need help, I'm currently booking appointments (email me at savvystyle30605@yahoo.com).
