Swing Dress and Suede Boots

Even as we head full on into the holidays I'm still wearing fall colors on repeat.  This pumpkin color has been one of my favorites again this season (just take a look at my Instagram and you will see what I mean!) and I'm just not ready to trade it in for red and green ~ yet! Speaking of the holiday's... are you ready?  Y'all, I can't believe Christmas is only 11 days away!  I'm about 80% done with my shopping and 0% done with wrapping!  I know it will get done, it always does, but it's hard not to stress until the last gift is bought and under the tree!

Election Day Style

Am I the only person in America who is waiting for actual Election Day to vote?  This whole "early voting" thing has really thrown me off!  It seems like just about everyone I know, besides The Hubs and two out of four of our kids, has already voted and are sporting their "I've Voted" stickers!  Election Day has always been an important day to me.  I grew up with a dad who shared his love of history, politics and American patriotism with me and my siblings, which was passed down from his dad.  I also learned at an early age that voting is a privilege and not something to be taken for granted.  So this afternoon I'll be heading to the polls to cast my vote and when I do I'll be sporting red, white and blue because there's nothing more patriotic than voting, right?

Dark-Wash, Flare jeans: Nordstrom || Flag Scarf: Swell || Navy Tote: Tory Burch || Earrings: Kendra Scott || Tan Booties: Similar || Red Turtleneck Sweater: Similar

Navy Leggings: Nordstrom || Crossbody Bag: Similar || Superstar Sneakers: Adidas || Navy Striped Tee: Topshop || Red Hoodie: Romwe || Denim Vest: Blank NYC || American Flag Earrings: JCPenny

Did you opt for early voting or are you waiting until November 8th like I am?  And it doesn't really matter what you wear to vote it just matters that you vote!

Leopard, Backpacks and Pink Drinks

Leopard, backpacks and pink drinks ~ these are a few of my favorite things!  Seriously, if you asked someone to describe me they would probably say, "A little dark haired, green eyed woman, wearing leopard print, carrying a backpack and drinking a pink drink"!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, leopard is a trend that never goes out of style.  You can wear it season after season, year after year, especially in a classic A-line style like this sleeveless sweater dress.  It's purfect for this time of the year.  It can be worn with a cardigan or jacket if it's cold out but looks great alone when the temps warm up in the afternoons.  Suede knee-high bootsankle booties and lace up flats all look great with this easy-to-wear dress.  Oh, and it has pockets!!  Doesn't get much better than that!

Sorry for last week's blogging absence.  I've been struggling with migraines the past few weeks and last week was particularly hard.  After trying to function through the work day, blogging at night was just not happening!  But I have something really fun in the works and it should be coming to the blog later this week!  Stay tuned!

Confessions and Chevron Stripes

Confession #1... These pictures were taken back in the early spring but never made it to the blog.  They were snapped by my friend Jennifer (of JennySue Makeup) when we were at Lenox Square for one of our Macy's Advisory Board meetings.  When she sent them to me I saved them to my phone instead of my computer which means they got buried in the over 1000 pictures currently on my phone so...

Confession #2... This shirt is one of my favorites and it's really old.  Like I've had it for years.  I bought it one summer at a little boutique in Seaside Florida when we were there on vacation and I've loved it ever since.  What's not to love about bold chevron stripes and cold shoulder detail?

Kimono and Graphic Tank

I was going through picture files on my computer and came across these from mid-summer that never made it to the blog.  They didn't get posted not because I didn't like them but because they were taken back when I was shooting several outfits a week and they got lost in the shuffle.  I feel like this outfit is not super summery and would still work for this season transition time of the year.  To change it up for fall I'd trade out the wedges for booties and the kimono for a leather bomber jacket.

Completer Pieces

If you haven't noticed by now, I wear a lot of completer pieces.  I think they pull a whole look together and add the perfect finishing touch and that extra something to what would be a pretty plain outfit without them.  In spring and summer my completer pieces are usually kimonos in florals or light weight, sheer fabrics.  In the fall I transition to heavier weight kimonos and vests like this one and this one, both of which I recently added to my wardrobe (I'm vest obsessed, y'all!).  In the winter I finish my look with jackets, cardigans and vests in knit or fur.

For this particular girl's night out with two of my blogger friends I tossed on a medium weight, Aztec print kimono over a basic black tee-shirt maxi dress, put on favorite wedges (which I'm just about to trade in for this pair of booties for fall transition) and grabbed a bold yellow bag (the color is perfect for any season) and headed out the door.  It was a GNO worthy, blog worthy outfit in my book! ;-)

Breaking the Rules

Sometimes rules are made to be broken, especially fashion rules.  Honestly, fashion rules are the most fun to break because that's one of the best ways to show your individual style (hello pattern mixing and leopard and camo as neutrals!).  I've not honored the "don't wear white after Labor Day" rule in quite some time. Would I wear a white linen sundress, a pair of super strappy white sandals or carry a white straw bag after Labor Day?  Probably not.  Would I wear white jeans, a white sweater or white tennis shoes? Yep! Absolutely! I actually have this pair of white jeansthis lace-up sweater and these kicks as part of my fall shopping list.  The espadrilles I'm wearing in today's post have become go-to's and I'm not ready to retire them for the fall yet and the tank is a great basic that works well alone or layered under a kimono, like I did here, or under a vest, cardigan or denim jacket as the temps drop.

~ What I'm Wearing ~
Floral Kimono: Forever 21 (old) | Similar
White Tank: Nordstrom (Comes in several colors)

Do you wear white after Labor Day?  What other fashion rules do you break?  Side note, I mentioned my fall shopping list earlier in this post and I spent some time this long holiday weekend updating my "shop" page with things I'm loving for the season.  Make sure to check it out here!
