When Shorts Weather and Sweater Weather Collide

We're at that point here in Georgia where shorts and sweaters are equally appropriate on any given day.  The mornings are cool and the afternoons are warm, which is typical early fall in the South!  I'm so ready for all day sweater weather but until then I'll combine fall clothes (like booties and a vest) with summer clothes (like denim shorts and a tank) so I don't suffer heatstroke by 1:00pm but still get my fall fashion fix!

Y'all, yesterday was National Handbag Day!  If you have been a reader of my blog for long you know how much I love handbags!!  I guess you could call me a "handbag collector".  Clutches, satchels, shoulder bags, cross body bags, backpacks... I love them all!  I've linked a few of my recent favorites incase you want to add to a bag or two to your handbag collection!

September Transition

I'm in fall transition mode, y'all, but the weather is stuck in summer!  It's been over 90 degrees for almost 90 days here in Georgia.  I want so badly to wear leather leggings, boots, cozy sweaters and blanket scarves but unless I want to have heatstroke I'm sticking to lighter layers in darker colors and fall-ish patterns.  Fall booties have replaced my summer sandals for the most part but I decided to take these peep-toe lace-ups out one more time before I pack them up for the fall/winter season.  I also can't seem to part completely with my white quilted leather backpack.  I've put it away with my other summer bags a few times now but I keep getting it back out.  I've been carrying my white backpack as much as my brown one and my black one these past few weeks.  Backpacks have definitely become my go-to bag and you can read all about why I love them here.

Completer Pieces

If you haven't noticed by now, I wear a lot of completer pieces.  I think they pull a whole look together and add the perfect finishing touch and that extra something to what would be a pretty plain outfit without them.  In spring and summer my completer pieces are usually kimonos in florals or light weight, sheer fabrics.  In the fall I transition to heavier weight kimonos and vests like this one and this one, both of which I recently added to my wardrobe (I'm vest obsessed, y'all!).  In the winter I finish my look with jackets, cardigans and vests in knit or fur.

For this particular girl's night out with two of my blogger friends I tossed on a medium weight, Aztec print kimono over a basic black tee-shirt maxi dress, put on favorite wedges (which I'm just about to trade in for this pair of booties for fall transition) and grabbed a bold yellow bag (the color is perfect for any season) and headed out the door.  It was a GNO worthy, blog worthy outfit in my book! ;-)
