Projections With Agora Vintage

If you've read my blog for long, or if you follow me on Instagram, then you know how much I love my town, Athens, Georgia and all it has to offer (especially the boutiques), so when I was asked to be a part of the upcoming My Athens Projections Fashion Show I jumped at the chance!  Projections is a fashion show that features eight local boutiques paired with eight local stylists (of which I am one) who create looks inspired by iconic style films.  I am so excited to be working with Agora Vintage, styling some fabulous outfits based on the 1960's movie What a Way to Go!  I stopped by Agora a few weeks ago to put together a few street style outfits to give you a little glimpse of what Agora has to offer.  I love pairing high-end vintage with current pieces and that's exactly what I did for today's look.  Chanel and YSL paired with Joe's Flared Jeans, a look you could wear out to dinner or to the office.  Haley (who is Agora's fabulous shopgirl) is wearing head to toe vintage which is styled in a way that looks current and oh, so chic!

All vintage pieces are available at Agora Vintage and my jeans are available here.  Projections is this coming Sunday, November 8th.  It's going to be a lot of fashionable fun and I'd love for you to join me!  Get your tickets HERE!   And read more about me, Agora and Projections HERE.

Impromptu Date Night and Go-To's

I hope everyone had a great Fourth!  We packed our day full of family fun ~ lake day, cookout, baseball game and the best fireworks I've ever seen (courtesy of the Gwinnett Braves)!  If you didn't get a chance to see what I wore to celebrate our country's independence you can see it here.  I love the Fourth of July!

Saturday The Hubs surprised me late in the day with an impromptu date night/overnight get-away!  I'd been doing chores around the house all day from my very long list of "things that need to be done this summer" and was in my Type A "I'm not going to stop until it's all done" mode so he knew he had to step in.  Ha!  It was literally 5:00 in the evening when he told me the plan so I quickly got a shower and tossed on my go-to look of "fancy top, worn-in jeans, fab shoes" (you can see another version of my go-to look here), packed an overnight bag and headed out the door.  It was fun and one of the perks of having older kids ~ no sitters required!

As I mentioned in a recent post I'm a bargain/budget shopper and one of my favorite go-to places to shop is Plato's Closet.  This top is a find from one of my most recent trips to Plato's.  It's by "buttons",  has incredible beading and cost all of $6.00!  I'm loving the coral/orange color paired with the faded denim and the leopard shoes. (Similar tank option here.)  The jeans and shoes are also budget friendly finds.  The jeans are Joe's Jeans and I got them at T.J.Maxx for a fraction of the retail price.  The shoes are from Bloggers Closet, which is an online shop where some of your favorite bloggers sell their gently used (or not even used) clothes, shoes and accessories.  I'm currently signed up to start selling on Bloggers Closet too and as soon as I find the time to get my items up for sale I will let you all know!  Identical denim and shoes here and here

My cuff and bag are both Tory Burch and are both from last season.  You can find the current version of the cuff here and a super fun cork version of the bag here.  And I just had to share this fun camo tote with you all!!  I just added it to my "must have" wish list and my Shop Mz Savvy Style page!

Do you have a go-to outfit style?  What are your favorite places to find a great deal?

Casual Friday Outfit, Getting Use to the New Do and the Start of MySummer

By the time Friday rolls around I'm ready to dress down because Friday's the weekend too and that's how we roll on the weekend, right?  This week seemed endless even though it was a short week because I was wrapping up things at the day job before summer break.  It's amazing what you remember that needs to be done when you are not going to be there for the next 8-9 weeks!!  I'm the kind of person that can't "put things off to later" so it was some long days but it was worth it because I am now "free" for the summer!  I'm looking forward to this one because last year my oldest daughter was in the hospital all summer long which meant I was in the hospital all summer long.  I'm not complaining, I would do it all over again to be there by her side through it all, but let me tell you, we are both celebrating her health, sunshine and summer big time this year!!

Now for the outfit...There is nothing more classic-casual than a good pair of faded jeans and a white t-shirt (or a white button down, my other casual day go-to).  It's easy, it always looks effortless and it's comfortable.  Pair it with booties in the colder months and with t-strap sandals in the warmer, add a statement necklace (or two) and you are good to go!

And the new do...I washed and styled my new do for the first time yesterday.  In some respects it's easier, like the much shorter dry time, but in some ways not.  It could just be the new-do-learning-curve.  I'm sure I'll get better at styling efficiency and what to do with it between washings (I only wash my hair twice a week).  I did invest in a few of the products my stylist used on it to get the look I want ~ Bed Head Hair Stick for the piecey look, root lifting spray for volume (who wants flat hair?), and a good styling wand for loose waves.  The Hubs was out of town this week and when I told him I was getting my hair cut off he was not too excited.  He's a long hair guy, so I was a little worried when he got home yesterday at what he'd think about it...AND HE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE!!  I got like a foot cut off my hair and he didn't think it looked different!  Men! Haha!

What I'm Wearing ~
White T: Gap (this one is a cute option too)
Jeans: Joe's These are my absolute favs!! They fit perfectly, feel like I've had them forever and they have a worn-in look without being distressed so I can wear them more places (like work on a casual day).
Bag: Tory Burch (last season - this season's Straw Tory Burch, or cute straw totes by Michael Kors and Rebecca Minkoff)
T-Strap Multi-Metallic Sandals: Sam Edelman
Statement Necklace: TJMaxx (similar beach themed necklaces herehere and here)
Leather Cuff: MADE in the deep south (It's by far the one piece of jewelry I wear the most. MADE now has an Etsy shop for those of us who don't have a store nearby that carries their line.  If you visit their shop please let them know Mz Savvy Style sent you!)

Happy Weekend, everyone!!
