Retro Inspired Style with Voodoo Vixen

I've always loved the feminine look of retro clothes and fit and flare dresses are my all time favorite style for my body.  I've got curves so I might as well make the most of them, right?  So when I received this dress from Voodoo Vixen I not only fell in love with the style but the bold black and white checkered pattern and the sweater knit fabric ~ perfect for fall!  I decided to pair the dress with black and white striped pumps and added pops of color with a hot pink bag and lip.  I've got another Voodoo Vixen dress coming to the blog soon and it's the perfect holiday party dress!  Get a sneak peek of the dress here.

Yes, these pictures were taken over a month ago, hence the green trees and bare arms and legs!

What I'm Wearing ~
Dress: c/o Voodoo Vixen
Striped Pumps: Forever 21 (sold out) {Identical here}
Bag: Kate Spade (sold out) {Similar here}
Bracelets and Earrings: Stella & Dot
Pink Lip: Revlon Sweetheart Valentine (my favorite lip color!)

Are you a fan of retro style like I am?  I can't wait to share my next Voodoo Vixen dress with you all!

Tulle and Tee's

Tulle skirts are a big trend right now which makes this girly-girl very happy!  You can easily make a tulle skirt more sophisticated and less "little girl" by pairing it with a great statement heel and a fun graphic tee.  Once the weather (finally) turns cooler I'll toss on a denim jacket over the tee to toughen it all up a bit.  What girl, no matter her age, doesn't love the chance to feel like a ballerina for the day?

What I'm Wearing ~
Graphic Tee: Whitney Ellen (Old Navy has several cute graphic tee's right now at crazy good prices!)
Black Tulle Skirt: Chicwish
Leopard Strappy Heels: Steve Madden
Logo Belt: Michael Kors (Similar)
Pink Bag: Kate Spade (This one is super cute!)
Sunnies: Coach

It rained in the middle of our photo shoot and we had to sit in the car and wait it out. #bloggerproblems

What blogger doesn't love a good "#OOTD" tee?

Styling Joggers For Now, Transition and Fall

Earlier this week I shared with you how I styled these joggers for the Girls Day Out event with Star 94 at The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta (if you missed it you can see the post here).  In today's post I'm showing you three ways to style the same joggers ~ for now, for summer to fall transition and for fall/winter.

Striped Tank: Old Navy (on a crazy good sale right now!)
Striped Wedge Sandals: Kate Spade
Leopard Cross-Body (Cross-body bags are perfect for a busy girl on the go!  I love a big bag but cross body's are quickly becoming my go-to bags!): River Island
Striped Camp-Shirt: Calvin Klein
Luxe Joggers: Spend or Save
Pink Cross-Body: Michael Kors
Floral Loafers: ModCloth
Striped Hooded Pullover: Spend or Save
Leopard Wedge Booties (I just ordered these for fall!!): Isaac Mizrahi New York
Red Bag: Isaac Mizrahi New York

(Can you tell besides joggers I'm obsessed with stripes and leopard?!)

If you don't currently own luxe joggers I would highly suggest you get some today!  They will carry you through each season in style and comfort!!

Summer Professional

Do you find that during the summer it's hard to dress up?  I have the tendency to want to dress for every occasion in the summer like I'm at the beach or on vacation even though I'm not.  It's hard to go into my closet and pick out an outfit that's office/work appropriate because I just want to be in cutoffs and a tank top 24/7!  Fortunately for me my summer office is at home and my dress code is pretty relaxed (think sweat-shorts and an over sized T) but when I do have to step out of the home office for client meetings I still want to have a comfortable, relaxed, summer look that's also professional and polished at the same time.  The relaxed pant trend is a great alternative for professional summer dressing.  Lighter weight pants in a looser fit are more comfortable than traditional trousers but can be just as polished and professional when paired with the right top and accessories.

A pair of relaxed pants in a soft fabric gets polished and professional with a front tucked striped top, floral scarf and closed toe pumps.  If I was going to an office I would trade the straw bag for a leather tote and the pink platform pumps for a pair with a lower heel and no platform.

What I'm Wearing ~
Relaxed Trousers: Forever 21 (sold out) ~ Similar (but with the tuxedo stripe) from Gap.
Striped Top (A wardrobe staple in my book!): Old Navy
Scarf: Gap (last summer) ~ Other pretty options hereherehere and here!
Pink Pumps: Charlotte Russe (old) ~ Identical and these from Isaac Mizrahi are a more office appropriate option.
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (no longer available) ~ This one by Michael Kors is summer-professional.
"Hello Sunshine" Phone Case: Kate Spade
Affirmation Bracelets: BCBGeneration
Sunnies: Emilio Pucci

Do you agree that it's hard to "dress" during the summer months?

Green, Gold and Leopard

Quick post today...I'm at my sister's visiting her and her boys (ages 2 years and 2 months) and trying to give her a little break so I'm fitting this in while everyone is napping.

I wore this outfit on Father's Day and was able to snap a few pics in between church and brunch.  I got this dress at an Atlanta blogger's closet sale a few months ago.  The minute I saw it hanging on the rack of one of my favorite blogger-friends I knew I had to have it!  Emerald green and gold?  Best combo ever in my book!  The shoes came from another blogger's closet.  There is a website called "Bloggers Closet" where some of our favorite bloggers put items from their own closets up for sale.  I check it several times a week and there is always something fabulous listed at a great price!  I opened an account myself and am hoping to list items for sale from my own closet soon.  I'll let you know when I do!

What I'm Wearing ~
Dress: via an Atlanta blogger's closet sale (Love this gorgeous halter dress in the same emerald green!)
Leopard Ankle Strap Sandals: Bloggers Closet (Identical here)
Bag: Cynthia Rowley via TJMaxx (Similar here and I'm OBSESSED with this Kate Spade clutch!)
Sunnies: Coach

Transitions and Trends

Even though spring officially starts tomorrow the weather in Georgia is still in major transition.  The last few days have been like the dead of winter ~ cold and rainy.  I'm over it.  I spent some time this week at one of my favorite Athens shops, Encore, styling some spring outfits for an upcoming blog collaboration and it really got me in the mood for warmer weather!!  Shorts and dresses and tanks with toe baring shoes!  Come on spring!  But until the temps rise and stay that way my wardrobe will continue to be in transition ~ which means layers.  Today I wore a turquoise moto jacket with faded, deconstructed skinny jeans, a thin snow leopard sweater and the newest addition to my shoe family, black lace-up cage sandals, which I bought for my spring go-to shoes.  Every piece is currently a trend too.  I'm glad faded jeans are making a comeback for spring.  They seem more spring-ish than dark denim, don't you think?

What I'm Wearing ~ Jacket: Walmart years ago!! (I'm loving this ombre moto jacket and I have a hot pink one on my wish list) | Sweater: Old Navy (old) | Jeans: Old Navy | Sandals: BCBGeneration via T.J.Maxx (similar versions from Nine West and Jessica Simpson) | Bag: Kate Spade (Nordstrom, almost identical version here) | Necklace: Fab'rik Athens last year (I'm totally obsessed with this one from Bauble Bar)

Speaking of my collaboration with Encore...next week I will start a series of posts with spring outfits I styled at Encore and along with the posts I will be doing my first ever giveaway!!  Woo hoo!! I'm super excited!! Stay tuned because you are going to want to be in on this!!  And that's not all...for you in the Athens/Atlanta area, I'm hosting an exclusive after hours shopping party at Encore on Thursday, April 10th and you are all invited!!  There will be a 20% discount, tons of cute spring clothes, sweet treats, giveaways and styling tips by yours truly!  It's going to be so much fun!!  Mark your calendars and come shop with me!!

Like a Magpie

You know how magpie's are attracted to anything shiny and hummingbirds are drawn to anything red?  I'm that way with leopard ~ if it's leopard I'm all over it!  Coats, shoes, jackets, bags, tops, scarves, bracelets, skirts, shorts, dresses, chairs, rugs, throws...I can't get enough leopard!  Which brings me to these pants ~ leopard, bootcut pants from the juniors section at a local consignment shop.  I spotted them the minute I walked into the store and once I tried them on and they fit (yay!) I didn't care if they are maybe a little much for someone my age, they had to come home with me!  Because the pants are bold (even though leopard is considered a neutral it is still bold) I decided to pair them with a simple black sweater.  The emerald green pumps pop against the leopard without competing with it and play off of the green stones in my statement necklace.

What are you drawn too?  Leopard like me or another pattern or color?

Snow Day ~ Take Two

As I told you yesterday, in true fashion blogger style I decided to take advantage of the rare Georgia snow fall and use it as a backdrop for a few blog outfits.  To me there is nothing prettier than snow!  Faux fur, wellie boots, a favorite cozy sweater, warm tights, a hat, gloves and pops of pink make up snow-day outfit number two!
