Rompin at Tootsies

I have been waiting for the opportunity to wear this romper since I bought it back in July on our family vacation.  We always have a girls' shopping day while the guys go fishing and we found a great little boutique, LaRobe, that was packed full of the cutest stuff.  I snagged this romper and a great pair of sunnies by Quay, my current favorite sunglasses brand.  This past Sunday I attended a blogger brunch at Tootsies in Buckhead to preview their latest line and talk fall trends.  It was a great time of blogger bonding and fall fashion fun and it was the perfect time to wear this romper!

~ What I'm Wearing ~

Romper: LaRobe Boutique | Similar Style HERE
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Same bag but with studs HERE
Shoes: DV by Dolce Vita | I got this fab pair on super sale when Piperlime was closing down.  I'm still so sad about Piperlime not being around any more!  They were one of my favorite go-to shopping sites!
NecklaceRingEarrings and Bracelet are all Stella & Dot
Fab swag bags including Velvet Tees
We reviewed a wonderful line up off all the latest fall trends ~ and how cute is this place-setting?!

My time at Tootsies made me so ready for fall and now I'm craving all things navy, wine and forest green, fringe and shearling!  We saw some of the most gorgeous shoes, bags, clothes and accessories from Rachel Zoe (there is an over-sized chunky knit sweater that's got my name on it), Velvet, Elizabeth and James, Alice + Olivia, Rebecca Taylor and more.  I'm looking forward to my next trip to Tootsies once the temps drop a bit to get my wardrobe set for fall!

Summer Professional

Do you find that during the summer it's hard to dress up?  I have the tendency to want to dress for every occasion in the summer like I'm at the beach or on vacation even though I'm not.  It's hard to go into my closet and pick out an outfit that's office/work appropriate because I just want to be in cutoffs and a tank top 24/7!  Fortunately for me my summer office is at home and my dress code is pretty relaxed (think sweat-shorts and an over sized T) but when I do have to step out of the home office for client meetings I still want to have a comfortable, relaxed, summer look that's also professional and polished at the same time.  The relaxed pant trend is a great alternative for professional summer dressing.  Lighter weight pants in a looser fit are more comfortable than traditional trousers but can be just as polished and professional when paired with the right top and accessories.

A pair of relaxed pants in a soft fabric gets polished and professional with a front tucked striped top, floral scarf and closed toe pumps.  If I was going to an office I would trade the straw bag for a leather tote and the pink platform pumps for a pair with a lower heel and no platform.

What I'm Wearing ~
Relaxed Trousers: Forever 21 (sold out) ~ Similar (but with the tuxedo stripe) from Gap.
Striped Top (A wardrobe staple in my book!): Old Navy
Scarf: Gap (last summer) ~ Other pretty options hereherehere and here!
Pink Pumps: Charlotte Russe (old) ~ Identical and these from Isaac Mizrahi are a more office appropriate option.
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (no longer available) ~ This one by Michael Kors is summer-professional.
"Hello Sunshine" Phone Case: Kate Spade
Affirmation Bracelets: BCBGeneration
Sunnies: Emilio Pucci

Do you agree that it's hard to "dress" during the summer months?

Trophy Wife

I love this tank!  I find it really funny, especially because The Hubs has a running joke that "I married up".  I thought this T would remind him just who it is that married up! haha!

What I'm Wearing ~
Trophy Wife Tank: Entourage Athens
Cropped White Jeans: Old Navy (Savvy Style Tip: When wearing cropped pants of any kind wear a wedge or heel with them to elongate the leg.  If you wear flats (or God forbid, tennis shoes) your leg will look shorter and heavier.)
Floral Wedges: Gap last summer (these floral print heels are on my summer wish list and these are almost identical to what I'm wearing!)
Neon Necklace: Old (Looooooove this one from Bauble Bar!)
Straw Tote: Rebecca Minkoff (last season via eBay, spend here and save here)
Sunnies: Coach
Lip: Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Sweetheart Valentine

Happy Friday, Happy Weekend, Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there

and

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY to my amazing son, Chad, who I love more than words can express!!

Neon and Deals

I love neon.  I think it's because I grew up in the 80's which was the heyday of the original neon trend.  Neon is bright and fun and when done right it can make for an eye-catching outfit.  I also love a deal.  I made a trip to one of my favorite consignment/thrift shops the other day and stocked up on the neon.  Jeans, shorts, tops ~ you won't be able to miss me this summer!  The Hubs said I'm a human highlighter...and I'm OK with that!

I got this sweet little neon yellow fit and flare sundress by Old Navy for only $8.00.  Such a steal!  I already had the layered neon necklaces I bought on clearance for $3.00 each a while back (I wear them all the time!) and the leopard ankle strap sandals are a recent $20.00 bloggerscloset.com purchase.  The Rebecca Minkoff "boyfriend" bag was a major deal too.  I'd been stalking this style on eBay for a while - for probably over a year and recently a seller had the bag listed "NWT" (new with tags), $75 or best offer".  This bag retails for $195 so the $75 was already a great price but I thought I'd make an offer and see what happened.  I offered $60 and...the seller took it!  A brand new Rebecca Minkoff bag for $135 off the original price.  Sometimes good things come to those who wait...and shop eBay! Ha!

What I'm Wearing ~
Dress: Old Navy (thrifted) Almost identical and very affordable option here.
Necklaces: Entourage Athens (clearance this past winter) Check out this fun neon bib necklace.
Sandals: Anne Michelle via Bloggers Closet (Identical and I'm loving this gorg lace up version)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff via eBay (savespend and splurge)
Sunnies: Jessica Simpson via TJMaxx (these by Coach are so cute!)
Affirmation Bracelets: BCBGeneration

Have you found any good deals lately?

MADE in the deep south

I fell in love with MADE in the deep south jewelry two years ago while on vacation in Florida.  I was shopping in one of my favorite shops in Seaside when I came across these unique pieces.  I didn't purchase any that trip but continued to think about them so last year while on vacation I made sure I brought a piece of MADE jewelry home with me (until recently it wasn't sold anywhere in my area).  I bought a leather cuff with a 1940's vintage brooch on it.  It's one of my favorite and most worn pieces in my jewelry box. (You can see it hereherehere, and here just to share a few of the many times I wore the cuff!)

Michela Bruno Swafford is the founder and designer of MADE in the deep south jewelry.  She created this line of jewelry with the idea of making one of a kind jewelry using vintage and antique pieces collected from all over the world.  These pieces are then deconstructed and mixed with other pieces and materials to create new and unique jewelry.  Every piece of MADE jewelry is one of a kind and comes with it's own biography ~ pretty cool!  I love the fact that it's old but new, rugged but elegant.

I was excited (to say the least) when MADE said they wanted to send me a piece from their new line.  I received the most exquisite necklace made from a 1940's chandelier crystal pendant on a 1970's chain mixed with at 1940's necklace.  It changes color depending on what it's against so I can wear it with a multitude of things.  I've layered it over other necklaces and worn it alone like I did in today's post.

What I'm Wearing ~
Statement Necklace: MADE in the deep south c/o
Ikat Print Top: TJMaxx (similar here and here)
Jeans: Old Navy
Cage Sandals: Nine West
Striped Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff via TJMaxx (similar here and I'm loving this  blue striped one!)

My first MADE in the deep south piece ~ A brown leather cuff with a 1940's vintage brooch

My newest (but not my last) piece of MADE in the deep south jewelry ~ A statement necklace made with a 1940's chandelier crystal pendant, a 1970's chain and a 1940's necklace.

Cable Knit Sweater Three Ways

Cable Knit Sweater Three Ways

In trying to decide what to wear for Thanksgiving I keep going back to my cozy cream cableknit sweater.  It could be the cold and rain we've had here or the fact that I'm completely loving cableknit right now.  It's wearable with so much from denim to leather to sequins.  I may just be wearing one of these outfits come Thursday!

What are you wearing for the holiday?
