When In Doubt a LBJ Is Always Right

Two closet staples every women should own are a LBD (little black dress) and a LBJ (little black jumpsuit).  I've been reaching for my LBJ a lot more than my LBD as of late.  It seems like it's perfect for just about every occasion.  Recently I attended a TIBI fashion show hosted by one of Athens' premier boutiques, Heery's Clothes Closet, and was a bit stumped about what to wear (sadly, I don't (yet) own anything by TIBI) so I reached for my favorite LBJ, leopard pumps (also a closet staple), my latest necklace obsession and of course, a red lip!

~ What I'm Wearing ~
Black Jumpsuit: Shoe Dazzle (sold out) | This one and this one are both on my fall/winter "to get" list (because I need more LBJ's)!
Leopard Pumps: Nine West
Neck Party: The Freya Fringe Necklace layered with the Mixed Metal Sutton Necklace both from Stella & Dot
Red Lip: L'Oreal
Nails: Big Apple Red by OPI

Are you a LBD or a LBJ girl, or both?

Spring Cravings

As soon as the temps start to warm up I start craving some new spring items to freshen up my wardrobe.  Some of my cravings are trends and others are classics.  Some will make it into my wardrobe, some are already there and some are just a dream.  I'm sure my list will continue to grow as I scourer some of my favorite blogs and help clients with their spring wardrobes (because don't you find the best stuff when you're shopping for someone else??).   Here are some of my spring favorites ~

What are you craving so far this season? XO Elizabeth

Limits and Favorites

I'm back after an almost six week, completely unintended blogging break.  It's a long story but it all boils down to the fact that I was trying my hardest to do it all and it got the best of me.  Keeping up with a very stressful day job, getting my Stella & Dot business off the ground, taking care of my family, running a home, being a good friend, daughter, sister, the blog, up at 4:15am to not hit the pillow until after 11:00pm (and the list goes on) made me exhausted, overwhelmed and sick.  I got shingles due to the stress.  I kept telling myself I could keep going, that I could keep doing it all but I realized that I have my limits.  I hate to admit it.  As a type A, never stop kind of person it's a hard realization, but I can't do it all.  Or maybe I can for a while (which I'd been doing) but the exhaustion, stress and anxiety would catch up and take me out for a while.  So I had to back off of a few things, get rest and get better.  I also had to make some decisions about letting some things go and I have decided that the day job is it.  So June 1st I will be moving on and focusing on my Stella & Dot business and the blog/styling/personal shopping.  It's a leap of faith but it's time, it's necessary and it's really exciting!  Thank you for hanging in there for this little hiatus of mine and not leaving me!  I promise there are great things to come for Mz Savvy Style!!  Until June, when I can finally have the time I need to blog several times a week, I'll do my best to post at least twice a week.  I've missed the creativity of blogging and I've missed all of you!

Now back to fashion...  I've got several sets of really great winter outfit pictures that I want to share with you all before it gets too warm out and faux fur and layers looks silly.  I'll throw in a little spring style inspiration along the way too until I totally transition over to the new season.

This outfit consists of most of my favorite pieces from this fall/winter season ~ the perfect leopard pumps, distressed boyfriend jeans (I'm obsessed with distressed denim - it's become an addiction!), snakeskin cross-body bag with a gorgeous gold chain strap, the coolest faux fur/sweatshirt jacket and a mixed metal tassel necklace that goes with everything!

This Tassel Necklace is a must have for every wardrobe!  It's my go-to.

... At least not all at once!

Shoes are Nine West, jeans are Genetic c/o Encore Athens (love these), faux fur jacket is from Piperlime, bag is Cynthia Rowley from T.J. Maxx a few years ago (this one is at the top of my spring wish list!) and my jewelry is all Stella & Dot!!

One more REALLY cool thing I wanted to share with all of you... Alyson, the fabulous blogger behind the must read blog The Average Girl's Guide, did a post on the best style bloggers over 40 and guess who made the list?!  Me!  Check it out here!

Joie De La Vie

Joie De La Vie means "The Joy of Life" in French.  I didn't know that when I bought this sweater, I bought it because I love graphic anything, especially when it's in black and white.  So before I wore it I asked my sweet friend, Stephanie, who is French (and owns an amazing French restaurant, La Petite Maison here in Georgia) what my sweater said...just in case! I was happy when Stephanie told me that it means "The Joy of Life" because not only do I love the saying and will wear it proudly, but it's also my good friend Cindy's favorite saying so every time I wear it I will think of her!  Speaking of my friend Cindy, she's the mommy behind the blog Surviving Mommy, a must read for every woman - mommy or not!  Check out her latest post on her surprise run-in with Ben Affleck (lucky girl!!)

What I'm Wearing ~
Puffer Jacket: Piperlime (it's currently on a crazy good sale! Like under $50!)
Graphic Sweater: Forever 21 (also on a crazy good sale! Under $20!!)
Faux Leather Pants: Forever 21 (yep, on sale too!) If you have not tried out the leather pants trend these would be a great pair to start with!  They fit like regular trousers but are in fabulous, super soft, just-like-real-leather faux leather.
Pointy Toe Pumps: Nine West (These pumps are the perfect heel height - not too high but not too low.)
Bag: Vintage Coach Willis Bag via Agora Vintage Shop (Current version here)
EarringsRingBraceletBracelet and Bracelet are all Stella & Dot

Joie De La Vie!!

New Year's Style

I have been wearing A LOT of sequins this holiday season!  It started back at Thanksgiving, continued through Christmas and is still going strong come New Years!  Our New Year's Eve is usually pretty laid back.  The Hubs and I try to get away for a few days to rest and recharge before the busyness of the new year begins, which is exactly what we will be doing again this year.  Sequin leggings and a cozy, over-sized sweater are great for dinner out or meeting up with friends and will still be comfortable for lounging at the hotel watching all of the bowl games and catching up on my favorite magazines!

Blogger Rule: When you find a fabulous red wall you must use it as a blog picture backdrop!

Wha I'm Wearing ~
Over-sized Ivory Hooded Sweater: Michael Kors via T.J. Maxx {Similar}
Champagne Sequined Leggings: Cheeky Peach Athens {Identical}
Leopard Booties: Nine West {these sold out during Cyber Monday but here's an almost identical pair}
Vintage Louis Vuitton Bag: Agora Vintage Athens {Similar}
All Jewelry: Stella & Dot

The necklace I'm wearing is sold out but this one is another great option and one of my Stella & Dot favorites!
Cocktail RingPave BraceletInspiration BangleSparkle Bracelet

Loving the gold zipper detail on this fab sweater!

This is my "I'm thinking about the new year" look ~ ha!

I'm going to take a few days off from the blog to spend time with The Hubs and relax.  I'll be on Instagram (I can't take a break from everything!) and will be back on the blog Monday with a new post featuring J.Jill!

Happy New Year!!!

A Summer Skort

I tend to wear a lot of white the week leading up to Labor Day.  Not because I'm from the old school of "no white after Labor Day" but because it just feels right.  Even though I live in the south and the heat sticks around for a month (or three) after Labor Day is long gone my brain (and wardrobe) transition to fall.  You know, jeans, camo, layers, leather, booties...  I do think this little summer skort and white cage sandals will get packed away with my spring/summer wardrobe but I'll keep this bold blazer/vest and striped T in my fall/winter rotation.

What I'm Wearing ~
Pink Blazer/Vest: Cheeky Peach (Similar)
Striped T: Old Navy (Here's another great option)
Skort: Forever 21 (comes in three colors!)
Clutch: Guess (Similar)
White Cage Sandals: Nine West (I've just about worn them to death this summer!! They are awesome shoes!)
Sunnies: Coach
Affirmation Bracelet: BCBGeneration

Please excuse my naked nails!!  I've been so crazy busy that my nails have been low on the list of  things to do!

Are you as ready for fall fashion as I am?  And do you wear white after Labor Day?

Another Romper and a New Photographer

You think I'd be tired of rompers by now but I'm not at all.  I'm actually trying to figure out how to transition my rompers and jumpsuits for when the weather turns cooler and I'm searching the Internet for some cute fall options.  Out of all of the trends this summer the romper/jumpsuit trend is my favorite.  I mean, who doesn't love one piece dressing and feeling like you are in your pajamas all day?

What I'm Wearing ~
Romper: Cheeky Peach (sold out) ~ Similar
Necklace: Stella and Dot ~ I'm loving (and ordering) this one!  You can wear it five different ways!
Leather Cuff: Tory Burch
White Cage Sandals: Nine West
Bag: Tory Burch

Did you notice something different about today's pictures?  I now have a real photographer, Diana, and I couldn't be more excited!  She's sweet, amazing and loves fashion and detail as much as I do!  Now if I could just figure out how to edit! ha!

Casual Glam

Like I've mentioned before, dressing up in the summer is a challenge for me.  I love the more casual vibe summer brings but sometimes the need arises to dress up a bit and for this I adopt a more casual glam approach of dressing.  For me this means pairing one or two more dressy (glam) pieces (in this case the lace-up cage sandals and the metallic skirt) with one or two more casual pieces (the plain white T and the straw tote).  Another of my favorite casual glam looks is skinny jeans with a girly blouse and fun heels as I wore in this post and this post.

What I'm Wearing ~
Plain White TOld Navy (I usually size up in my tee's because I don't like them to be too tight.)
Metallic Skirt: Forever 21 via Plato's Closet (and it was NWT!)  Great options here and here.
White Cage SandalsNine West (One of my favorite purchases this summer! Oh, and they are on SALE!!)
Straw Tote: Tory Burch (Love this leather version)
Statement Necklace: Loft c/o Monday Mingle (This one from Stella and Dot is amazing and on sale!)

I have carried this Tory Burch tote ALL SUMMER LONG, EVERY SINGLE DAY!  It's crazy how perfect it's been!  I'm really considering getting this leather version for fall (which will be here before we know it!).

A statement necklace is another way to dress up a casual outfit.  It pulls the whole look together.

And in other news...I got my hair cut again!  And I went even shorter this time!  I guess once you cut it off for the first time it gets easier after that but I do think this is as short as I am going to go.  My stylist, Sarah, has a great time playing with all of the choppy layers she gave me.  She used two different sized curling irons (one large and one small), root lifter spray and hair wax to get this look.  All of the other pictures in this post are my attempt to style it myself for the first time!  It's going to take some practice!

Beach Style ~ Dinner Out

Sorry for the (unplanned) silence last week!!  We were on vacation at St. George Island and we knew going in that we would have no cell service but what we didn't plan for was no wifi!  The wifi was really hit or miss for the first part of the week and then Wednesday, right in the middle of my doing my post for the day, it went out completely!  I ran around like a mad woman trying to get some form of connection but finally decided to just turn it all off and enjoy my family.  For someone who is addicted to Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook the week was hard and a blessing at the same time.  It's kind of nice to be "unplugged" to a point and it also made me feel little panicky!

During our week at St. George we go out to eat twice and the other nights each family (meaning the wife/mom) takes a night and cooks.  Tuesday night we went into town (which also meant we had to cross two very long bridges, ugh) to have dinner.  It's always fun, even on vacation, to dress up and go out.  I bought this romper a while back along with a blue one just like it (seen in this post) and I have been saving it for vacation.  The raspberry color would look great with not only white accessories as I chose for this look but also leopard, gold, nude, silver and turquoise.  My question with jumpsuits and rompers is to belt or not to belt?  I chose not to this time but I'm thinking I may try a skinny belt the next time.

What I'm Wearing ~
Jumpsuit: Forever 21
Lace up, Cage Sandals: Nine West (currently on SALE!!)
Necklace: Stella and Dot (no longer available but this one is really gorgeous!)
Sunnies: Emilio Pucci (these from Isaac Mizrahi would be cute with this outfit too!)

My hair is not a fan of the humidity and I decided not to fight it, so here ya go! ha!

For those of you that live in Georgia or can get to Georgia, I'm co-hosting super fun Girls Day Out event with Star 94 Atlanta at the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta along with my fabulous friends, Cindy Simmons of Star 94 and Jennifer Duvall of JennySue Makeup on Thursday, August 7th from 11:00am-1:00pm!!  You can get all the details HERE!  Hope to see you there!
