Styled Three Ways ~ DL1961 Emma Jeans

Hey Everyone!  Me and my blogger bests, Jennifer Duvall and Molly Moon Burton, are back with another addition of our "Styled Three Ways" collaboration.  This time we are each styling a pair of DL1961 Emma Jeans in "drizzle" which is a really cool worn-in gray wash.  I haven't owned a pair of gray jeans in a long time and was super excited when these arrived in my mailbox!  Gray is having a color moment of late and the styling possibilities for these super comfy jeans are endless!

I paired my jeans with a poncho, tunic shirt and booties, all of which of which are hot trends this season.  I'm loving ponchos, aren't you?  I have a few now and they are such a fun completer piece.  I mean, what's better than wearing a stylish blanket all day long?  I'm all about cozy chic fashion!

~ What I'm Wearing ~

Gray Jegging Jeans: DL1961 c/o {These jeans are so comfy they feel like your wearing leggings, not jeans!  I'm planning on getting them in another color or two ASAP!}
Plaid Poncho: Target {The one I'm wearing is already sold out online but may still be in store.  I linked two similar ponchos here and here.}
Henley Tunic Top: Target
Wine Booties: Kenneth Cole REACTION {They come in a few colors}
Necklace: Stella & Dot
Crossbody Bag: Vera Bradley c/o {Completely obsessed with this one!!}

Make sure to check out Jennifer's blog, JennySue Makeup, and Molly's blog, Hey There Sunshine, to get all the details on how they styled their DL1961 Jeans!

The Start of Fall and Fabulous Bags

Happy Fall, Y'all!!  The official start of fall is finally here and the temps actually cooperated enough for me to wear some layers (and even flannel) to celebrate my favorite season!  With the change of seasons also comes a change in my bags.  My usual summer day bag this straw Tory Burch tote that I've carried every summer for the past several years.  I love it but I'm ready to swap it up once Labor Day rolls around.  I began my fall bag search a month or so ago and I fell in love with Vera Bradley's entire new line of totescross body'ssatchelsbackpacksshoulder bags and clutches.  They are all so fabulous it was hard to choose which would be my go-to bag for fall.  I was torn between this navy and black bowler satchel and this cheetah calf hair beauty and then I came across this denim and quilted leather satchel and knew it was the one.  Dress it up, dress it down, work day or date night, it's the perfect bag for me!

Saying Goodbye to Summer

This is it ~ today's the last official day of summer and tomorrow, at 4:21am, will begin my favorite season of the year ~ fall!!  Now if the weather here in Georgia would magically cooperate...

What better outfit to say "goodbye" to summer in than my favorite trend of the season, a jumpsuit, in my favorite colors of the season, turquoise, white and purple.  And I'm happy to report that the jumpsuit trend isn't going anywhere as the temps get cooler.  I've got a few perfect-for-fall jumpsuits on my radar like this one, that's a great option for date night or an evening on the town, and this one (which I just ordered), that would be perfect for a business/casual office or brunch with friends.

Tie-Dye Tunic

Tie-dye is everywhere right now and I'm glad because I'm really loving it!  It's kind of boho/hippy and trendy at the same time.  I scooped up this cute tie-dye tunic on a recent stop at Entourage.  The wear-with-everything black and white pattern and the fun high/low hem sold me!  It's great for summer with shorts and a kimono (or alone) but will transition well into fall with black skinnies and an open-front cardigan.

Rompin

Rompers and jumpsuits are the best thing since Betty White if you ask me!  Honestly, I'm slightly obsessed.  Once piece dressing is just so easy!  Toss it on, add some accessories and you're done.  The only drawback is getting (almost) completely undressed when you have to use the restroom, but to me the benefits of comfort and ease balance out the inconvenience of a bathroom break.

Savvy Style Tip: Rompers can look too "little girl" if they have ruffles, lace and cut in hems on the shorts.  To make a romper age appropriate keep the style and detail simple and classic.

~ What I'm Wearing ~

Romper: Entourage Boutique | The one I'm wearing is sold out but they have the same style in taupe with navy embroidery Here.
Straw Fedora: Target
Sunnies: Similar
Chandeliers: Stella & Dot

My Swimsuit Story

Here's a little tidbit about me, I've always been an avid exerciser but I've also always struggled with my weight.  I've been every size from a 00 to a 12.  Seriously.  Many summers I've been in good enough shape to wear bikini while at the beach or pool.  But there have been some years, like after babies and after my daughter's long hospital stay where I lived on cafeteria food and cupcakes, that I've had to switch to a one-piece or tankini to spare everyone from the sight of my, um, not-so-toned midsection.  Last summer I reaped the rewards of a year of really hard work and a strict diet and was able to bring a wardrobe of bikini's with me to the beach.  Well, this summer rolled around and after a long year of a lot of stress, I've gained fifteen pounds and the bikini's were staying home.  It used to be that stress caused me to loose weight but once I reached 40 it has done the opposite.  The over 40 weight struggle is real, friends!  One of my dear friends described trying to keep your weight down after 45 like trying to keep a beach ball under the water.  The minute you force it down it pops right back up again!  Ugh! So I had to go dreaded swimsuit shopping before our family beach vacation.  Fortunately there are a lot of really cute tankini's and one piece swimsuits out there.  There are also cute cover-ups for the beach/pool days you're wanting to just sit under the umbrella and read a good book.

I love mixing patterns, even with my swimsuits!
Striped Halter Tankini Top: Target
Polka-dot Bikini Bottoms: Target
Kimono With Fringe: The Loft Boutique (sold out) Similar
Beach Read: Judy Blume
Sunnies: Quay Australia
Fedora: Target

Scarves make great cover-ups!  I'll do a tutorial soon.
Tankini Top: Victoria's Secret
Bikini Bottoms: Victoria's Secret
Large Scarf: Stella & Dot
Floppy Hat: Natural Paper Company
Sunnies: T.J.Maxx (These are similar and at the top of my wish list!)

I love a white swimsuit, especially after spending a few days in the sun.  I decided the tie-dyed bottoms, instead of white, added some interest.
Tankini Top: Victoria's Secret
Bottoms: T.J.Maxx ~ These were from one of last year's bikini's and still fit so I decided to get a tankini top to go with them.  Here's a similar option.
Flip Flops: Michael Kors
Hat: The Natural Paper Company
Sunnies: Similar
Beach Read: Judy Blume c/o PopSugar Must Have Box

I opted for a new all red tankini because I was hoping for the BayWatch effect ala Pamela Anderson.  It didn't work... ;-)
Tankini Top: Target
Tankini Bottoms: Target
Flip Flops: Michael Kors
Tie-dyed Tunic Top Used as a Cover-up: Entourage
Beach Read: Sophie Kinsella

Gray and Red

Gray and red is not a color combo I reach for often and I don't know why. They play so nicely together and I love how the combo looks but it's just not one of my "regulars". This cute little Target skirt (that I found on MAJOR clearance) did all the color combining for me and all I did was pull pieces from my closet that complemented it. I think I'm going to put this color combo on my regulars list!  Oh, and when I say little skirt I mean short...way too short for someone my age to wear without tights.  Just sayin'!
