Christmas to New Year's

I recently wore this outfit to my company Christmas party.  The event was held in a large art studio here in Athens and it was quite cold so we were encouraged to dress warmly.  Of course being the "dress for the occasion girl" that I am and it being a Christmas party sparkle and shine were a must for me!  I found this sequin bomber jacket on super sale and HAD to have it!  It was a great way to stay warm at the party but also fit the "it's the holiday's so dress up" bill too.  I'm planning on wearing it again over New Year's when The Hubs and I take our annual New Year's getaway trip.  The jacket goes really well with leather pants, like I'm wearing here, but will be equally cute over a LBD or with jeans.  Isn't it great when you love something, it's on sale, you buy it, and you realize it can be worn for several occasions?  I know I sure do!

~ What I'm Wearing ~

Sequin Bomber Jacket: Charlotte Russe (It's on sale for $20!!)
Shimmer Tank: Entourage Clothing
Faux Leather Pants: Target (These are actually leggings but I sized up so they would fit like pants. These are under $20!)
Crossbody Bag: H&M (sold out) | Identical
Leopard Pumps: Nine West (last year) | Similar
Lippie: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo (This color looks great on everyone!)
Double Ring: Kendra Scott

Me and my gorgeous "side kick", model and assistant, Maggie, at our company Christmas party at Stan Mullins Art Studio. Yes, she's about eight inches taller than me (and a whole lot younger!)

Sorry about the quality of these pictures.  I planed to get some better shots at the event but the lighting at the studio was not picture friendly and I had to go with the pictures The Hubs shot of me before I left the house for the evening.   I almost didn't post this outfit but I had SO MANY questions about my jacket after putting this picture of Maggie and I on Instagram I decided to go ahead and blog away! ;-)

Also, I may or may not get another blog post in this week.  I've been working at our flagship store here in Athens all week, which means I'm exhausted in the evenings, my kids are home from college, which means we are doing family stuff in the evenings, and I'm trying to wrap up the little last minute details of Christmas before the busy holiday weekend!  Are you ready?

Jingle Bell Frock ~ Retro Christmas

If you've read my blog for long or if you follow me on Instagram then you already know that I love a good jumpsuit.  I believe the little black jumpsuit can replace the little black dress in many instances and can even be a bit more chic because it's unexpected.  So when I was on a recent shopping trip to the Shops Around Lenox looking for the perfect "Jingle Bell Frock", I stopped by American Apparel and I knew this velvet jumpsuit would be the perfect addition to my holiday wardrobe the minute I laid eyes on it!  A black velvet jumpsuit is a little bit retro, a little bit glam and a lot of fun, don't you think?  It's perfect for just about any holiday parties I have on my calendar ~ from Christmas to New Years ~ and would also work for a nice dinner out with the Hubs or even an evening winter wedding.  To give my jumpsuit a Christmas vibe for a recent party I added red plaid pumpssparkly statement earrings, a long gold necklace and of course, a red lip!  To keep things interesting, instead of carrying the expected black or red clutch I paired my outfit with a camo crossbody bag which I have become obsessed with since I got it at Tootsies during the same shopping trip.

~ What I'm Wearing ~

Black Velvet Jumpsuit: American Apparel c/o
Red Plaid Pumps: Cole Haan (old) ~ I linked a similar pair here
Statement Earrings: Stella & Dot
Necklace: Stella & Dot (sold out) ~ similar
Cuff Bracelet: Stella & Dot

Crossbody Bag: Hammitt LA c/o Tootsies

What are your wearing for your holiday parties?  Would you try a velvet jumpsuit?

Green's My Favorite

A new week and a new blog post! Yay!!  Last week was crazy with wrapping up at the old job and the start of the new job so (once again) time for blogging took a back seat.  I'm hoping once the holidays are over and I've got a handle on the new job's schedule I'll have time for a regular posting routine.  As for now you will just have to bear with me as I'm on a post-when-I-can schedule! ;-)

Do you have a favorite color?  One that you are just drawn to?  I have two, green and tiffany/turquoise blue, but I'd have to say that green is my favorite.  And I've never met a green sweater I didn't like.  Seriously.  I'm like a magpie to a shinny object when I spy a green sweater!  I did a little shopping last week at Entourage and picked up this sweater (and a few more things) because... it's a gorgeous shade of green, it's a tunic and it has fringe!!

~ What I'm Wearing ~

Tunic Sweater: Entourage {similar}
Faux Leather Pants: {old} This pair is on my Christmas list!
Suede Tall Boots: {old} These are almost identical and under $200!
Necklace: Stella & Dot {It can be worn five different ways!}
Camo Crossbody Bag: Hammitt via Tootsies {It was love at first sight ~ I'm obsessed!!}

What color are you drawn to?

Thanksgiving Day Style and An Exciting Announcement

Hey Friends!!  I sure have missed you all and this little blog of mine.  The past few weeks have been so crazy with great stuff like birthdays, family events and A NEW JOB (I'm SO excited) and not so great stuff like migraines and being too exhausted from the old job to think straight but I'm happy to be back in time to share some easy outfit ideas that are perfect for Thanksgiving or for fall/winter in general.

If you know me you know how much I LOVE (faux) leather leggings.  I have several pair that are on constant repeat!!  (I mean constant!)  If you don't own at least one pair you need to get some now!  Gone of the days of leather being "biker chick" ~ it's now just chic!!  This look is an easy two pieces plus a few fun accessories to add some personality.
Leggings: Nordstrom (They are under $50!)
Oversized Sweater: Tory Burch (I'm obsessed)
Tassel Necklace: Shopbop (I love all the tassels!)
Leopard Booties: Metcalf (You need some leopard booties)
Buffalo Plaid Crossbody Bag: Vera Bradley (Vera's my current favorite place for great bags)
Wrap Bracelet: Stella & Dot (I wear mine all the time)

Green is my favorite color (well, tiffany blue too) and this green sweater is the perfect addition to any fall/winter wardrobe!  I'm going to be wearing this green boyfriend cardigan for our family Thanksgiving (with a tank underneath, of course!)
Sweater: Target (So cozy!)
Dark Wash Skinny Jeans: Nordstrom (Everyone needs dark wash skinny jeans)
Blanket Scarf: Etsy (similar)
Suede Booties with Fringe: Nordstrom
Bracelet Trio: Stella & Dot (On sale until Sunday!)

A sweater dress and boots is such an easy, chic combo for just about any fall/winter occasion.  Toss on a scarf or a fab necklace, grab a cute bag and you are good to go!
Sweater Dress: Nordstrom (I usually size up one size in sweater dresses so they fit loose and not snug)
Suede Boots: Romwe (Under $50!)
Reversible Tote: Target
Leopard Scarf: Splurge / Save

Ponchos are THE hot trend right now!  There are so many great, affordable options out there.  I was in poncho heaven at Target the other day (I may or may not have brought home two).  Ponchos are great as outerwear but they can also replace a cardigan or jacket.
Poncho with Faux Fur Collar: Target
Girlfriend Jeans: Gap
Orange Sweater: The Outnet
Tassel Necklace: Stella & Dot (On sale until Sunday!)
Mustard Crossbody Bag: Centuary21
Taupe Booties: Nordstrom

So if you haven't decided on what to wear for your Thanksgiving Day celebration I hope I was able to give you some inspiration!

Now about my new job...
Two weeks ago I was contacted by the corporate office of one of my favorite boutiques to see if I'd be interested in working for them as their corporate stylist (dream come true).  After two interviews in a weeks' time I was offered the position and of course, I eagerly accepted!  Beginning the first week of December I will start my new career as Entourage Clothing and Gifts Corporate/Lead Stylist! Entourage currently has seven boutiques around the southeast (with plans for more) and a fabulous website (which, along with their social media, is one of the many things I'll be styling for!)  I'd love for you to follow along on InstagramFacebookTwitter and Pinterest!  And of course, I'll keep you posted of in-store styling events as they happen and look-books as they launch!!

I hope you all have a fabulous, fun family and food filled Thanksgiving!!

Fourth Style

I have been trying for two days now to take pictures wearing my top two outfit choices for this coming 4th of July and every time I have someone available to snap my pictures it's raining!!  So I went for plan B ~ I styled the outfits and shot them inside ~ on the floor.  A blogger's gotta do what a blogger's gotta do...

If its' hot this Saturday ~ which I am pretty darn sure it will be because I live in Georgia and it's stinkin' hot here all summer ~ this will be my OOTD (outfit of the day).  This adorable tank was sent to me by Tipsy Elves a few weeks ago and I've been really looking forward to wearing it for our family Fourth festivities!  It's super soft and I love a tank with a v-neck!  These denim cutoffs are from a few years back and I seem to pull them out every Independence Day ~ the subtle star print is spot-on for the holiday!  I've found a few cute pair with flag pocket detail HERE and HERE.  Of course a red cross-body bag and red t-strap sandals area must.  I've found a current red Coach cross-body HERE (mine is vintage) and just about identical sandals HERE.  Jewelry is all Stella & Dot ~ Bianca LariatAlexia NecklaceRenegade Cluster BraceletArrow Bracelet, and Pave Arrow Cuff.

If it cools off in time for the baseball game and fireworks we're attending in the evening then this will be my OOTN (outfit of the night).  This American Flag long sleeve shirt was also gifted to me by the folks at Tipsy Elves.  I'm planning on bringing it with me on our vacation to the beach too because it will be perfect for cooler breezy beach nights!  These white slightly distressed skinny jeans are my summer go-to's.  I actually chopped them off at the bottom to give them more of a cropped/distressed look.  These studded denim gladiators are from last year and are sold out but I found a similar pair HERE.  The necklace is the Zuni Layering Necklace from Stella & Dot, and the bracelets are Stella & Dot as well ~ Remi WrapEnlighten Bracelet and the sold out Pyramid Cuff.

Have I mentioned that I love the 4th of July?!?!  Family (my entire family will be here!!), fitness (I'm running the Peachtree Road Race - which is the largest 10k in the world!), food, fun, fireworks, baseball and, of course, cute fashion ~ what's not to love?!?  What are you doing for the holiday? Whatever it is, have fun and be safe!!

I'll be posting our holiday fun on Instagram.  Feel free to follow along!

Baby, You're A Firework

As I've mentioned in my last few Flashback Friday posts I love dressing for the holidays ~ whatever the holiday is ~ and the Fourth of July is one of my favorites!  There are so many cute outfit ideas for any way you celebrate Independence Day ~ from backyard picnics, to a boat cruise on the lake, fireworks with friends, a baseball game with the family or just relaxing at home.  I'm loving this Flower Burst Top from The Loft Boutique.  The flower design looks like fireworks!  I paired it with navy relaxed pants (SOOOO comfy!!) but it would be equally cute with jeans (even distressed denim like this pair to dress it down a bit) or shorts (make'em red!).

Savvy Style Tip ~ Theme or holiday dressing can be fun but don't overdo it!  Pick one or two pieces, like a flag tank and red and white striped shoes for The Fourth or sequined pants and glitzy earrings for New Years, and keep the rest simple/neutral.  You want to look like your are ready for the holiday but not crazy!

~ What I'm Wearing ~
Flower Burst Top: The Loft Boutique
Navy Relaxed Pants: The Loft Boutique
Tote: The one featured is sold out (I bought it!) but I found THIS ONE that's reversible, comes in several colors and is under $50!  Every girl needs a great tote!
White Wedge Sandals: I'm loving THESE with the cork wedge!
Sunnies: SIMILAR

These earrings are sold out.  I found a similar pair HERE and THIS PAIR would be perfect for The Fourth!  Both pairs can be worn multiple ways.

If you haven't already, make sure to check out my last two Flashback Friday posts that feature more fun Independence Day style ~ HERE and HERE.
