Spring Trend Alert ~ Flares

One of the hottest trends for spring is flares ~ especially flared jeans.  I'm personally loving the trend and am planning on adding a pair (or two) to my wardrobe ASAP!

When wearing flares be mindful of proportion and your choice of shoes.  Don't go too long with your top like you would with skinny jeans.  A longer, tunic style top will just make your legs look shorter and mess with the proportion of the outfit.  A shorter top is your best choice or front-tuck your top to make the leg line longer.  And don't wear flats!!  The idea of flares is to make you look longer and leaner and flats will just make you look shorter and wider.  Your best shoe option is a wedge sandal ~ it's chunky enough to balance out the fullness of the wider leg and will give your legs length (yes, even if you are tall).

Girly Camo

I love taking something "tough" like leather or camo and softening it up with something feminine and girly. The contrast is fun and makes an outfit interesting and a little unexpected.  I have two great pair of camo skinnies that fit perfectly and are on HEAVY rotation in my closet.  This metallic bow blouse was a recent purchase from the W Hotel/Shop the Bloggers Closet event about a month ago. I've worn it multiple times since it came home with me and I know it too will be on HEAVY rotation this summer! It will be great with everything from skinny jeans to boyfriend shorts and little summer skirts! I finished off today's look with metallic wedges (is there any shoe more stylishly comfy than a wedge?) and a hot pink bucket bag by one of my favorites, Isaac Mizrahi.  How do you wear your camo?

Leather Shorts

I've carried my love of leather/faux leather from fall and winter into spring and summer by swapping out my beloved joggers and pants for shorts and skirts.  The slightly longer length of these shorts is flattering and easy to dress down or dress up for running errands, lunch with friends or a dinner out on the town.

Another trend I'm loving this season is kimono's.  They are the perfect lightweight layering/completer piece.  Kimono's are great in flirty florals, fun boho prints, lace or solids.  Wear them like you would a cardi or jacket.

Skirt and Stripes on Repeat

You have seen this skirt before, and before and before...  It's one of those items that has become a wardrobe staple in my closet.  It wasn't intentional.  I bought it YEARS ago off the clearance rack at Old Navy for a steal and just fell in love.  I can dress it up and dress it down.  Wear it in the winter with a sweater and boots or in the summer with a tank and sandals.  But my favorite way to wear this hot pink skirt is with stripes.  They just seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly (or in my case, peanut butter and chocolate!)  Do you have an unintentional wardrobe staple in your closet?
