One Skirt Styled Four Ways

I pinned this adorable polka dot skater skirt on Pinterest the other day and I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the day.  I love a bold piece that's classic and versatile at the same time.  My favorite thing to do when I lock in on a item like that is create different ways to style it.  As I've mentioned before, one of my rules when shopping for myself or a client is that the item being considered for purchase has to have more than one way to style it.  If you buy an item and it can only be used in one outfit than it's kind of a waste in my opinion.  I came up with about ten different looks I could make with the skirt and I decided to share my favorite four with you.

We all know my love of pattern mixing and my first thought when I saw this skirt was, "wear it with stripes...and florals!!"  So I styled an outfit with both.
Skater Skirt: Choies (super affordable and flattering on every figure)
Striped T: Proenza Schouler (a more budget friendly version here)
The Most Amazing Pattern Mixed Sandals: ALDO (they are at the TOP of my wish list!)
Little Red Cross Body Bag: Coach
Floral Scarf: Kate Spade

Neon is HOT right now and it looks great with black and white so I knew this skirt would be the perfect backdrop for some bold neon pieces.
Neon Peplum Top: boohoo
Skirt: Choies
The Most Amazing If-I-Had-The-Funds-They-Would-Be-In-My-Closet Shoes: Sophia Webster
Neon Statement Necklace: Bauble Bar (there is a waiting list for it but it would be worth getting on)
Cross Body Bag: Modcloth

I know, another pattern mix outfit.  I couldn't help myself!  Polka dots are great with so many patterns (as are stripes)!
Crop Top: Mara Hoffman
Skirt: Choies
Lace Up Sandals: Alexander Wang
Clutch: Tiffany's (similar here)
Double Drop Earrings: David Yurman

This is probably my favorite of all the looks.  It's an easy look for lunch out, errands, dinner with friends, mommy on the go or even the office if they allow denim.
Graphic T: Old Navy
Skirt: Choies
Denim Vest: Pendleton
Striped Flats: Forever 21
Red Cross Body Bag: SplurgeSpendSave
Red Link Statement Necklace: GILT

Which of the four styling ideas is your favorite?  And speaking of Pinterest...do you follow me?  If you don't you are missing out, just sayin'!  Follow all the savvy and stylish pinning here!

Girly Camo

I love taking something "tough" like leather or camo and softening it up with something feminine and girly. The contrast is fun and makes an outfit interesting and a little unexpected.  I have two great pair of camo skinnies that fit perfectly and are on HEAVY rotation in my closet.  This metallic bow blouse was a recent purchase from the W Hotel/Shop the Bloggers Closet event about a month ago. I've worn it multiple times since it came home with me and I know it too will be on HEAVY rotation this summer! It will be great with everything from skinny jeans to boyfriend shorts and little summer skirts! I finished off today's look with metallic wedges (is there any shoe more stylishly comfy than a wedge?) and a hot pink bucket bag by one of my favorites, Isaac Mizrahi.  How do you wear your camo?

What I'm wearing ~
Top: MM Couture (similar here and here)
Camo Skinnies: Old Navy
Bag: Isaac Mizrahi via TJMaxx (last year, similar)
Metallic Wedges: Steve Madden (old, completely obsessed with these)
Twitter Handle Necklace: Bauble Bar

Happy Weekend!

Jumpsuits ~ My Latest Obsession

Jumpsuits are a HOT trend right now.  I wasn't that into them until I tried (wore and loved) this one from Tart for my Encore Athens Sip & Shop (see the post and get the details here).  Nikki, Encore's owner, let me choose an outfit for the evening's event and this black jersey jumpsuit was one of many items I took into the dressing room with me.  It was the second outfit I tried on and I was immediately HOOKED!  Jumpsuits are extremely flattering and oh-so-easy to wear!  I felt great in it all evening (no tugging and pulling, no "sucking it in"! ha!).  I decided to try a few more jumpsuits and I've loved them all.  I now own three with three more on the way.  I've decided they are going to be my "uniform" this summer!  You can wear jumpsuits just about anywhere.  They are super easy to dress up - with great heels (like cage sandals), statement jewelry and a belt - or dress down - with raffia wedges or t-strap sandals and bo-ho inspired jewelry.  I've made jumpsuits one of my "Mz Savvy Style's Top Trends For Summer" which I shared at the Star 94/The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta Sip & Shop last Thursday night (see the full post and my Top Trends list here).

What I'm Wearing ~
Knotted Floral Jumpsuit: Forever 21
Michael Antonio Jacqueline Pump (on trend cage sandals)
Bauble Bar Courtney Bib (quickly becoming my go-to statement necklace!)
Michael Kors Tote (last year but I'm LOVING this onethis one and I want this one as my summer bag!)
Coach Sunnies (old, I'm loving my new Pucci pair I won from Alexis Suitcase!)

Jumpsuits and rompers are so hot right now a few of my favorite Southern Blog Society friends also featured them on their blogs today (great minds think alike, right?!) ~ Mandy of Waiting on Martha, Tiffany of Tiffany Style (she's my style soul sister!), and Jessica of My Style Vita.  Looking great, girls!

So have you tried the jumpsuit/romper trend?  They are a lot more wearable than you may think.  Here's a few of my favorites in case you want to give them a try (I highly suggest you do! You won't be sorry!) ~

Peplum

Sometimes I'm quick to jump on a trend and sometimes I take my sweet time.  The peplum trend has been around for a while now and I am just now figuring out that it's a really flattering trend for me (as it is for every woman)!  It accentuates the positive and hides what needs to be hidden...and what girl doesn't want that?!  Maybe I should invest in a peplum swimsuit this summer! haha!

What I'm Wearing ~
Peplum Top: Gap/Old Navy and I just ordered this cute striped one
Jeans: Hudson via TJMaxx (old, loving these by my favorite, BlankNYC)
Leopard Sandals: Recent purchase from Bloggers Closet ~ these are identical and so fabulous!
Bag: Vintage Gucci Bucket bag via Agora Vintage Shop ~ similar here and I'm loving this one!
Neck Party: On the bottom is the Bauble Bar Courtney Bib and it is one of my favorite purchases! I wear it alone or layered with lots of different necklaces.  It's amazing quality too.  On the top is a necklace I got a while back from TJMaxx.  This one from Kendra Scott is gorgeous!
