Well, it's finally here...the opening weekend of the 2014-2015 college football season!! Not only do I live in the south where college football is a religion but I live in Athens, Georgia, home of my beloved Georgia Bulldogs! Living in a college town is awesome any time of the year but game weekend's are the best! Of course living in Athens and being a Bulldog means I have a lot of red and black in my wardrobe. Part of the fun of game weekends is the game day style!
What I'm Wearing ~ Polka Dot Romper: Forever 21 (I'm LOVING this one for summer to fall transition!) Red Lace-up Cage Sandals: Michael Antonio (They come in four different colors.) Vintage Coach Willis Bag: Mine came from my favorite vintage shop, Agora Vintage, but this one is identical. Sunnies: Coach
As I mentioned before, two of my favorite trends this season are cage sandals and jumpsuits/rompers. I can't get enough of either one. Fortunately there are so many cute, affordable options out there that I can indulge in my newest obsession without guilt (and look on-trend doing it!).
Saturday I went to a bridal shower for one of my daughter's best friends and decided to wear this jumpsuit. The best thing about jumpsuits is the one-piece dressing! Pull it on, toss on a few accessories and a pair of shoes and you can head out the door. My daughter had the same idea and wore a cute little black romper I gave her for her birthday a few weeks ago. By the end of the summer people will be saying, "there go those Herrin girls in their jumpsuits again". And I'm OK with that!
What I'm Wearing~ Jumpsuit: Forever 21 (It comes in two gorgeous colors...and I have them both! Sorry I didn't think to get pictures of the back ~ it has a gathered t-back ~ super cute (and you can still wear a bra!) Red Cage Sandals: Michael Antonio (these too come in several colors) Turquoise Necklaces: Old, I'm craving this one by Kendra Scott Bag: Michael Kors (last year's, this one is the current season) Sorry my hair looks like who'd a thunk it (that was one of my very southern friend, Mandy's favorite sayings!). I was running super late for the shower after my Saturday long run and pulled my it-takes-an-hour-to-dry wet hair into a knot and it dried kind of funky!)
Jumpsuits are a HOT trend right now. I wasn't that into them until I tried (wore and loved) this one from Tart for my Encore Athens Sip & Shop (see the post and get the details here). Nikki, Encore's owner, let me choose an outfit for the evening's event and this black jersey jumpsuit was one of many items I took into the dressing room with me. It was the second outfit I tried on and I was immediately HOOKED! Jumpsuits are extremely flattering and oh-so-easy to wear! I felt great in it all evening (no tugging and pulling, no "sucking it in"! ha!). I decided to try a few more jumpsuits and I've loved them all. I now own three with three more on the way. I've decided they are going to be my "uniform" this summer! You can wear jumpsuits just about anywhere. They are super easy to dress up - with great heels (like cage sandals), statement jewelry and a belt - or dress down - with raffia wedges or t-strap sandals and bo-ho inspired jewelry. I've made jumpsuits one of my "Mz Savvy Style's Top Trends For Summer" which I shared at the Star 94/The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta Sip & Shop last Thursday night (see the full post and my Top Trends list here).
Jumpsuits and rompers are so hot right now a few of my favorite Southern Blog Society friends also featured them on their blogs today (great minds think alike, right?!) ~ Mandy of Waiting on Martha, Tiffany of Tiffany Style (she's my style soul sister!), and Jessica of My Style Vita. Looking great, girls!
So have you tried the jumpsuit/romper trend? They are a lot more wearable than you may think. Here's a few of my favorites in case you want to give them a try (I highly suggest you do! You won't be sorry!) ~
