Busy Mom (lady) On The Go

As I've mentioned before, last week I co-hosted a Girls Day Out event for Star 94 and The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.  Our theme was "take time for you, tips for a busy mom (lady) on the go".  My gorgeous friend, Jennifer Duvall of JennySue Makeup, shared makeup tips on how to look your best when you are in a hurry (and how to stay looking your best in the heat!!  On the day of our event it was blazing hot and we were set up outside, but Jennifer stayed looking fresh and shares her melt-proof makeup tips here.)  I styled two outfits for the event, one from Isaac Mizrahi New York (seen in this post) and one from Saks Off 5th.  I knew going in to my styling day the day before the event that I wanted to do one of the looks around joggers (not the people, the pants!).  Joggers are a way of feeling like you are wearing your pajamas but looking chic, on trend and totally pulled together!

Jennifer, my manikin wearing her busy lady on the go look I styled from Saks Off 5th and me at the Star 94 Girls Day Out event. (You can get Jennifer's look here and here).

What We're Wearing ~
Manikin:
Silk Tapered Joggers: Saks Off 5th (on sale!!)
Loose Fit Striped Top: Michael Kors (Identical)
Floral Cross Body Bag: French Connection (such a great bag for a great price!!)
Me:
Faux Leather Shorts: eBay (similar)
Thin Knit T-Shirt Sweater: Forever 21 (similar)
Black Cage Sandals: BCBGeneration via T.J.Maxx (I have these in white and they are fabulous and on sale!)
Sunnies: Coach

Part of the event's set up including my busy lady on the go styled manikins.

I'm still kicking myself for not purchasing this outfit at the end of the event!  I may be making a trip back to the outlets soon or ordering it online!

What's your favorite stylish on-the-go outfit?  Check back on Friday when I share three ways to style these joggers ~ for now, for transition and for fall.

Savvy and Stylish on a Budget

I've always been on a budget.  Always, my whole entire life.  I've always loved nice things and high-end fashion.  Always, my whole entire life.  So how have I gotten my bargain basement budget to mesh with my love of nice things and high-end fashion?  T.J.Maxx, ebay, thrift stores, consignment shops and getting creative is the answer!!  I've also always been a shopper.  I love to shop and I love to hunt and dig for the best things at the best prices.  I think it's one of the reasons I make a good personal shopper.  I can shop the high-end stores with the best of them but I can also find great deals at budget friendly stores.  I've also always been able to take a designer or high-end look and copy it (or better yet, make it my own) for a fraction of the cost.  It's like a game for me.  Some people play baseball, football or basketball but my sport is shopping!

Today's outfit, top, shorts, bag and shoes cost me all of a total of $28.00!  The top, shorts and bag all came from Plato's Closet.  Plato's is considered a "teen fashion store" and we all know I am not a teen, but you CAN find adult appropriate clothing and accessories at incredible prices if you just spend some time, try things on and are not in a hurry!  The day I got the items I'm wearing I spent about three hours in the store and made about six trips to the dressing room!  The shorts and straw tote (that I'm going to use as a beach bag) were both new with tags (NWT) which is always a bonus when shopping consignment stores!!  You would be surprised how many items I've gotten at consignment stores that still had tags on them.  The wedges came from Rugged Warehouse.  Rugged Warehouse is a discount clothing store.  It's one of those places that is totally hit or miss.  I've found some great things at Rugged Warehouse over the years and I think these wedges are the favorite of all my finds!  They are very "vintage Marc Jacobs".  The original price was $68.00 but they were marked down again and again with the price I bought them for being only $9.00!!  You will be seeing a lot of them this summer!

What I'm Wearing ~
Top: Tinley (similar)
Shorts: Express (similar)
Wedges: Rocket Dog (similar here and here)
Straw Tote: No Name (adorable striped version here)
Bar Necklace: All The Wire
Sunnies: Coach (via T.J.Maxx)
Pedi Polish: OPI (It's been my favorite this summer! Who knew yellow toes could make me so happy!)

What are some of your tips and tricks for looking savvy and stylish on a budget?

Leather and Lace...and Snake Skin

As I've mentioned many a time before, I love leather (and faux leather if you need to get technical about it!). I have several pair of leather pants and leggings, a few leather skirts and I'm currently working on a good collection of leather shorts.  This brownish-tan pair are the latest addition to my growing leather wardrobe.  Pairing them with something completely opposite, like this lace tank, creates a nice balance between hard and soft, cool and sweet, trendy and traditional...and it's completely savvy and stylish!

What I'm Wearing ~
Lace Tank: Oasap - it comes in several great colors!  If I had the funds I would buy this beauty in a second! The lace is to die for!
Faux Leather Shorts: eBay (Love these from Anthropologie!)
Snake Skin Ankle Strap Sandals: Sam Edelman via Encore Athens
Tote: Tory Burch (Similar and this all leather version is year-round perfection!)
Sunnies: Pucci
Necklace: New York and Company (old)  This one from Ralph Lauren is really classy!
Bracelet: Old (Similar)

If you missed any of the other love-of-leather posts you can see the most recent ones herehere, and here.

Happy Weekend!

Neon and Deals

I love neon.  I think it's because I grew up in the 80's which was the heyday of the original neon trend.  Neon is bright and fun and when done right it can make for an eye-catching outfit.  I also love a deal.  I made a trip to one of my favorite consignment/thrift shops the other day and stocked up on the neon.  Jeans, shorts, tops ~ you won't be able to miss me this summer!  The Hubs said I'm a human highlighter...and I'm OK with that!

I got this sweet little neon yellow fit and flare sundress by Old Navy for only $8.00.  Such a steal!  I already had the layered neon necklaces I bought on clearance for $3.00 each a while back (I wear them all the time!) and the leopard ankle strap sandals are a recent $20.00 bloggerscloset.com purchase.  The Rebecca Minkoff "boyfriend" bag was a major deal too.  I'd been stalking this style on eBay for a while - for probably over a year and recently a seller had the bag listed "NWT" (new with tags), $75 or best offer".  This bag retails for $195 so the $75 was already a great price but I thought I'd make an offer and see what happened.  I offered $60 and...the seller took it!  A brand new Rebecca Minkoff bag for $135 off the original price.  Sometimes good things come to those who wait...and shop eBay! Ha!

What I'm Wearing ~
Dress: Old Navy (thrifted) Almost identical and very affordable option here.
Necklaces: Entourage Athens (clearance this past winter) Check out this fun neon bib necklace.
Sandals: Anne Michelle via Bloggers Closet (Identical and I'm loving this gorg lace up version)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff via eBay (savespend and splurge)
Sunnies: Jessica Simpson via TJMaxx (these by Coach are so cute!)
Affirmation Bracelets: BCBGeneration

Have you found any good deals lately?

Another Day, Another Jumpsuit

This is my third post in the last month featuring a jumpsuit and it won't be the last (you can see the first two posts here and here).  One piece dressing is just so easy and chic it's quickly becoming my go-to.  The hardest part is deciding on what accessories to wear!  Speaking of accessories, white accessories are a big trend this season and I'm really embracing them!  Nothing says "summer" like white!

What I'm Wearing ~
Jumpsuit: Forever 21 (sold out ~ similar here, love this one by Line & Dot, I bought this one for my daughter and I just ordered this one)
Necklace: JCPenny (old ~ similar)
Cage Sandals: Nine West
Sunnies: Pucci c/o Alexis Suitcase (in blue here and almost identical here)
White Bucket Bag: eBay (love this one)
Cuff: Tory Burch

My jumpsuit needs hemmed.  Even with 5" heels it is too long! #shortgirlproblems

Love the back detail!

Better Late Than Never ~ September Review

"Better late than never" ~ it's becoming my motto lately. With so much on my plate right now some things fall through the cracks, like sending birthday cards, doing laundry, my September review post... So here it is on the twelfth of October ~ better late than never, I say!

September was definitely a month of transition for my wardrobe. The cool weather was SLOW in getting here so mixing fall clothes with hot weather clothes and lots of layering for cooler mornings and warm afternoons was my m.o. October is here and with it finally came some cooler temps. I'm really hoping they stick around because I'm ready to pack away my summer wardrobe and haul out the fall!

How about you? What's your favorite season? Are you ready for cool weather dressing like I am? Boots, scarves, cardis, tights, sweaters, fur vests, jeans (with out sweating)...aaaahhhh. Fall, I love you! Have a savvy and stylish weekend!!
